CHAPTER 13
"Wala lang... Ang gwapo mo lang kasi talaga nung una kitang nakita," Mira said before laughing.
Mira and I are having dinner now at her favorite restaurant after we watched a movie. We both made ourselves comfortable with each other by opening a topic so it wouldn't be awkward.
We're not really that close so our topic our mostly about school—medtech. And now we're talking about each other.
"Tapos ako na crush mo for three years," nakangisi kong sabi na kina-irap niya.
"I promise you, I never forced Tristan about this date anymore ever since I saw you with someone!"
"Someone?"
"Yes," she said. "The same day nung sa water bottle thing. I admit... Kinikilig ako nang maybe one second and then may biglang 'as a friend'?!" She said that made me laugh. "Tapos nagkita ulit tayo sa Aussie. Who's the girl, anyway? Are you courting her?"
I pursed my lip and shook my head. We're having dessert now. But none of us are eating. We're just talking.
"Why not? She's really pretty."
I smiled a bit and nodded. "She is."
"Do you think I'm pretty?" She asked that made my forehead creased. Her red lips formed a smile. "I'm not flirting with you, though... Just answer my question."
"Yes. You're pretty," I replied. But I prefer—
"Nang sinabi mo 'yon, did you at least thought of the beauty she had? Did you compare me to her?" She asked, smiling and not looking offended at all.
"If you did... Why aren't you courting her yet?"
I raised my eyebrows. "Is this some psychological facts shits?"
She chuckled. "You did thought of her, right?"
I just smiled at her.
"It's my cousin's birthday tomorrow," Mira said when we left the restaurant. We stopped in-front of my car. She gave me a smile. "Thank you for today."
I smiled and nodded. "Sabihin mo kay Tristan ayos na, huh?" I said and eyed her as a joke that made her laugh.
I opened the door for her. She shook her head. "It's my cousin's birthday tomorrow. I'll go back sa mall. Nakalimutan kong bumili ng gift."
"Uuwi ka mag-isa?" I asked and she nodded. I looked at my watch. "I'll come with you..."
"This all your fault," I whispered and Mira laughed.
Mira laughed. "Sus. You wanted to buy it naman. I just told you to buy it for like three times. Na sa 'yo parin naman 'yung decision."
I scoffed.
Mira went to pandora. But I ended up buying this pink sparkling crown solitaire ring.
The ring doesn't look like Abreu at all. But when I saw that ring the first thing that flashed on my mind was her face.
"It's so sweet nga, eh... I mean you have your parent's money but you didn't use that money when you bought that ring," she said. "So you have that 'pinaghirapan' ko 'to vibes?"
