"(Y/N)! Save me!"

"Hold on, I'm coming! Here, grab my hand! Grab my hand and don't let go!"

"Hah..." pants and takes deep breaths.

"Ugh... mph... too much..." struggles.

"(Y/N), are you alright?"

"Yes."

"No, you are clearly NOT alright. You're struggling... struggling because of me." Sighs "I suppose it's of no use."

"Wh-what do you mean?! I'm not struggling. I can do this. I can save you. I can get us out of here."

"It just won't work. I'm too heavy... too heavy of a burden on you..."

"No, don't you dare do it! Don't you dare let go! You hear me?!"

"But I have to... Seeing you suffer like this feels like a thousand bullets shot to the heart. I do not wish to see you hurting nor in pain because of me..."

"No, please don't..."

"You have to let me go..."

"But I can't... What if I can't? No, not just yet..."

"You have to... You need to... You cannot move forward if you do not let go of the past."

"Exactly! I don't wish to let go of the past, for if I do, then it means I have to let go of you too."

"(Y/N), I'm long gone. One can't turn back time. What had happened had already happened. It cannot be reversed."

Sniffs, tears clouding my eyes.

"Hmm... looks like I'm running out of time."

"What do you mean running out of time?"

"(Y/N), listen to me carefully. I love you so much with all my heart and soul. Whenever you feel alone, just remember that I shall always be with you right here..." Puts hand above the heart. "I am with you always and forever."

"I love you too... from the bottom of my bottomless heart. So please... please don't go..."

"I'm sorry, (Y/N)... I guess this is goodbye." Let's go and hands slip through my fingertips.

"NO! No... don't leave me..." sobs and cries.

(Y/N) POV

"NO! No... don't leave me..." I woke up from yet another nightmare with tear-stained cheeks and a sweaty forehead. Dark circles had formed around my eyes, my body weighing a bit lighter due to lost appetite and three months of sleepless nights.

"Another bad dream, Miss (Y/N)?" Mary inquired.

"Yes, indeed. These nightmares seem to have clung to me like tar for the past three months," I replied.

'I wish he had done the same.'

"True, Miss (Y/N). Though I suppose it is quite strange."

"How so?"

"Well, you did not have nightmares nor have had dreams about any of the Trancy's for a whole year since the day they died."

"And...?"

"You have not visited their graves since then."

"True."

"A year later, you visited them. Then a week after, you started having these nightmares."

"So, are you telling me that these nightmares began haunting me because I visited their graves?"

"Not really, Miss (Y/N). I am merely stating my observations." Mary said. "I only find it strange because most of the time, people have dreams of their late loved ones a day or two after their death, while you had them a year later. They appeared in your dreams only after you had visited their graves."

"Hmm... I see you have a point, Mary. I shall look into this matter later on. For now, please help me get ready for the day."

"As you wish, Miss (Y/N)."

After completing all my tasks, I had about half an hour free time on my hands. I sat on my chair, trying to solve the mystery behind these terrible dreams of mine.

"I only find it strange for most of the time, people have dreams of their late loved ones right a day or two their death, while you had them a year later. They appeared in your dreams only after you visited their graves." Mary's words echoed in my thoughts.

"Dreams about dead people... What could it mean? Did I anger their souls or anything during my visit?" I searched the bookshelves for any books that could provide me with some crucial clues.

"Aha! Here is one — 'The Big Book and Dreams and Their Hidden Meanings'. I've never seen this one before. Ah, it must have been one of the new books Father purchased the other day. Oh well, let's see if we can find something useful here."

I flipped the pages until I found the one that I was looking for. "Dreams about dead people," I read aloud. "Such dreams may be part of the mourning process or a reflection of the fact that you miss someone who's no longer in your life."

I paused for a while and continued reading the next paragraph. "The meaning of dreaming of the dead is related to emotions. Usually, those who are afflicted and sensitive by recent events in their life or who fear an uncertain future often dream of the dead and all because they believe they need to be reborn to move forward."

Before I could read the final paragraph, I heard a gentle knock on my door. "Miss (Y/N), dinner is ready at the dining hall. Please do come down, your parents are requesting for your presence," Anne informed.

"Alright, I'm coming." I closed the book shut, placing it back on its rightful spot at the upper left corner of the bookshelf.

??? POV

'Ah, seems like she found it.' The girl turned the pages one by one until she found what she was looking for.

"Dreams about dead people," she stated. She kept reading and reading and reading. However, she stopped just before the final paragraph and closed the book shut. Then, she stood up and left the study.

'What a shame. Darling, what a shame. You didn't even get to read the rest of it. Oh well, time to leave. I cannot be late for dinner. See you later, little angel..."
