Alois POV

(Y/N), Luka, and I decided to go for a swim after lunch. In order not to repeat the incident, we were not allowed to be out of our parents' sight. So, we just swam nearby where they could clearly see us.

We played and splashed water at each other's faces. We pretended to be sharks and even mermaids for fun. We swam, and swam, and swam.

Eventually we all got tired of swimming. (Y/N) and I sat down at the sea shore. Luka went back to go get something to eat for he was hungry.

"Thank you for helping me earlier, Alois." (Y/N) gave me a sincere, warm smile, which never failed to give me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

"You're welcome," I said.

"I apologise for causing you much trouble." (Y/N) let out a sigh and looked down at her hands. "If only I was strong enough." She clenched her fists. "Curse this weak body!" She stood up and kicked a small rock.

"(Y/N)..." I stood up and put my hand on (Y/N)'s shoulder in an attempt to calm her down. I looked at her gorgeous (E/C) eyes and said, "There is no need to curse your body. Your body is beautiful as it is. You are perfect just the way you are." I gave her a sincere smile.

"Thank you. I am truly grateful to have you as my best friend," (Y/N) said.

"So do I," I said.

(Y/N) sat back down and looked up at the sky above. "You know, I am tired of always being a damsel in distress. I have had enough of always being rescued by others. Maybe the lads were quite right."

"How so?" I asked.

"It is fairly simple — I depend on my servants, especially Nanny Isabelle, too much," she replied.

"I cannot even bathe and dress myself properly! Also, I had to rely on you and Luka to defend me from those boys, for I could not fight them off myself. I do not wish to see both of you get hurt for my sake."

"Based on the what you have said, are you implying that you would like to be independent?" I asked.

"Precisely!" (Y/N) replied. "From now on. I would like to be an independent lady who can manage to do everything herself."

She stood up and put her hands onto her waist. "I would like to grow up as a lady, who can stand on her own and defend herself from those who oppose her."

"You truly are an amazing girl, (Y/N)," I said. 'You never fail to amaze me.'

"Why thank you, Alois," (Y/N) said. "However, I believe that I cannot possibly do all this on my own."

She took my hands and look at me straight in the eyes. "So help me. Help me get stronger. Let's help each other to be the best we can be!" She said with determination. "That way, nothing, absolutely NOTHING, can stop us."

I nodded in agreement. "Now, how are we ought to accomplish our goal?" I asked. We put our heads together and tried to come up with any ideas.

"Oh I know! I noticed that some of my strengths are actually your weakness. The same goes for you," I stated.

"For example, I am terrible at managing my anger. My patience does not last long either. I allowed my rage take over earlier today. I immediately resorted to violence instead of looking for better ways to handle the situation. However, you are a patient girl, and you can keep your cool just fine."

"I cannot argue with that. I lack in physical strength and combat techniques. You are definitely stronger and your reflexes are faster than mine."

"True. I suppose growing up in the streets has its perks," I said. "Anyway, I suggest that we could help each other overcome our weaknesses. Help me manage my anger and be more patient just like you. In return, I shall help you increase your strength and fight for yourself."

"Are you proposing a deal, Alois?" (Y/N) asked.

"Indeed," I replied. "So, what's your answer?" I asked.

"Deal." We shook our hands, pretending to make a business deal like professionals.

"It is a pleasure to work with you, Sir Trancy." (Y/N) playfully curtsied.

"The feeling is neutral, Lady (Y/L/N)." I bowed my head, putting my hand on my heart, playing along. (Y/N) and I both giggled.

"I am certainly looking forward to see you as much calmer, more patient, and refined gentleman in the future, Alois."

"And I cannot wait to witness you become a strong, independent woman who needs no man."

'Even if you'll need no man, I promise to always be there for you, and to stick with you until the very end. (Y/N), you are my best friend, my angel, and I... I like-'

"You like what?" (Y/N) asked.

"Ah!" I shrieked "You startled me!"

"How come? You were just saying that even if I shall need no man, you will be there for me and stick with me until the very end. You called me your best friend, your angel. You stopped after 'I like' so I asked what you were going to say next," (Y/N) explained.

"You could read my thoughts? Are you secretly a mind reader? What are you?" I asked surprised.

"No you dumb arse! You were saying them out loud! And you didn't even notice, didn't you?" (Y/N) laughed at me.

"Who are you calling a dumb arse? I thought that British nobles were taught to be polite and avoid vulgar language. Where did you learn that from?" I asked.

"That is a secret I would not tell, my friend. However, I will say one thing. It is fun to break and bend the rules once in a while."

"I suppose so," I agreed. "I used to break them all the time at the old village. I was known to be quite the trouble maker."

"And you still are... you dumb arse..."

"Stop that! Stop calling me dumb arse you dumb arse!" I started to chase and run after her. 'Oh (Y/N)... I'll never get tired of this. I'll never get tired of you.'
