Chapter Eight - Hearts Made Of Glass, But Somehow We Last

Don't lose focus, I don't want to stand in your blind side

Know you working, don't you let it cut into my time

I lose my mind before I see you and I separated, no

I'm so scared to lose you, never choosing to let go

Love's so fragile, anything could happen, and we know

Hearts made of glass, but somehow we last, Yeah we made it

"Oh my god," Katy breathed out, her hand placed dramatically over her chest, just as she and Veronica watched Jughead lead the group of Southsiders out of the diner. Veronica rolled her eyes letting out a small laugh,

"That's the guy from the party isn't it?" she queried looking back up at her raven-haired friend,

"Yeah," Veronica sighed, picking up Katy's milkshake glass in order to clean the counter under it,

"He's cute, you should call him," Tabitha chimes in as she sets a to-go bag on the counter,

"Who's this for?" Veronica asks, trying to stray away from the conversation,

"Archie," Tabitha answers, as she moves around the counter to sit next to, Katy, Veronica's eyebrows draw together, how come he didn't call her?

"So, will you call him or?" Katy asks, looking up at her friend expectantly,

"Probably not," Veronica responds as she runs the damp rag over the same patch of counter over and over again despite it glistening because of how clean it is, based on the three short interactions she's had with Mike, she likes him granted two of the three ended in them making out, so they haven't talked much and know practically nothing about each other but she likes him, though she knows that if she has any contact with him whatsoever, Archie won't be happy, and he's her best friend, they always put each other first so she doesn't want to do anything to upset him,

"Why not?" Katy practically whines,

"Because I--" Veronica sighs thankfully as the bell above the door chimes saving her from the conversation, for a few minutes at least, she looks up to see a smiling blonde, her ponytail swaying side to side gently with every step she takes, she stops before the counter her hands clasped together as she offers a kind smile to Veronica,

"What can I get you, Betty?" she asks, grabbing a pen and pad as she prepares to take her order,

"Um, actually we called ahead of time," Betty says,

"Do we have any orders, prepared?" Veronica asks Tabitha as she leans over the open window that looks into the kitchen,

"No," Tabitha shakes her head,

"I'm sorry, Betty seems as if we didn't prepare it, but if you tell me what it is I can put in the order," Veronica offers,

"Oh, it's two cheeseburgers with fries and two vanilla milkshakes," Betty says,

"That's the order right there," Tabitha says, pointing at the bag she'd placed on the counter a few minutes prior, Veronica's eyebrows draw together further,

"But that's, Archie's order," she says,

"Yeah, he called earlier," Betty informs,

"And you're picking his order up because?" Veronica asks, her voice is laced with a bit of jealousy, he hadn't said anything about seeing Betty earlier,
