I stood to get the door as the doorbell rang. I came back with the confused faces of my friends, greeting the troubled one of my Mom. I sat them down at the dining table, trying to preparing them as best I could for the dangerous situation and plan I was about to lay out.
"Okay, now can someone please explain what the hell is going one?" Cal asked.
"You said it was an emergency.." Pam agreed worriedly.
"Yes, this is indeed an emergency. A dangerous situation we must act upon with caution." I told them all that had happened after my birthday party. They sat in shocked silence.
"But I think I might have a plan that will work. It's not too solid yet, but I'm going to make it feasible enough soon. I'm going to seek my dreams again for guidance. I will try to get as much information as I can to help us. Then we will be able to formulate a strong course of action together. But we have to hurry—we don't have much time."
Pam looked a bit scared, but she seemed to be ready. Cal, however, looked utterly confused. I realised he was the only one I hadn't told about my dreams. I laughed internally. What a time to tell him. But I decided it better to not include the stuff about Simon. Or the dream of Pam. That one still weirded me out. "Cal, I'm sorry I didn't tell you this sooner.."
After the discussion, everyone left in a shaken state. As I prepared to make my own dazed way up to my room after seeing my friends off at the door, Cal asked me to wait for a minute. "Willow.. why didn't you tell me all of this till now?"
I sighed. "I'm sorry.. I just didn't think you'd believe me."
"What made you think that?"
"Nothing.. I just didn't have enough evidence to prove it to you before."
"No, that can't be right. Then how did your mom and Pam know? They seemed to believe you just fine.."
"Well, that's my mom you're talking about, she would always believe me."
"And Pam?"
"She-she's one of my best friends.."
He raised an eyebrow. I thought I saw him smirk. "And I'm not? Or am I just not as close?"
"No! You're just as close—you're my best friend too."
"Oh really?"
"Yes!"
He sighed. He seemed a little let down. I couldn't believe he was still at this, yet I couldn't bring myself to let him know the real reason I didn't tell him. "Okay then.. But there's still something you're not telling me, that's for sure."
"No, please.. E-Even if there was, it's probably something you don't want to hear." I blurted out, only to regret it the very second.
"What? So you are hiding something.. Please don't lie to me.." He looked dejected. "Please, tell me whatever it is.. I won't feel bad, I promise."
"Okay, fine." I gave in. "But I warned you.." I told him. His face whitened as understanding dawned on him. I guessed he hadn't believed Pam when she had told him about Simon. I didn't really blame him. How could anyone, the way I didn't believe my dream at first either.
"Hey.. I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to assume anything.."
"What do you mean? Don't apologize.. I know I was being obvious.. It's fine, it happens.." His voice caught. His eyes threatened to water up. "Thanks for telling me, Willow.. Good day." He turned and left. I stared after him, worried I had probably ruined our friendship..
