CHAPTER 8

The next day, at school, gathered in the music room along with Erica, they had mentioned to Principal Karen and Head Master Ken that she was their assistant and would be able to participate in some of the band's activities. They started working on the band's songs and were busy writing lyrics and making beats for each track.

"What rhymes with pineapples?" Tendo asked.

"Pinecones, pine trees?" Jinji answered.

"I don't know," Shinzo shrugged.

"Why pineapples? Write about something else," Erica said.

"I've gone blank, I can't think of anything but food," Tendo replied.

"Rose, Haruto, Otani how's the soundtracks process?" Erica asked.

"It's sounding good," Otani said.

Rose agreed, "After analyzing our vocals, I thought the genres such as Pop, Alternatives Indie, and Progressive House would work fine for us."

"And hip hop," Haruto added. "Since Rose, Shinzo, and I can rap old and new school freestyles pretty good."

"Have you guys finished the songs?" Jinji asked.

"Nah, let's listen to the three tracks first," Rose said.

"Then we'll get inspiration to write proper lyrics for the song," Tendo remarked.

"Makes sense, Otani played the first track," Shinzo instructed.

"Alright," Otani said and started the beat's instrumental.

"This has a soft pop-rock tone," Haruto started.

Rose added, "It's actually my favorite out of the three songs. I called it, My Family. I wrote lyrics for it already."

"Whoa!" Jinji exclaimed.

"You're fast, Rose!" Shinzo said.

"I like this track too," Erica said.

"It sounds sentimental but strong," Shinzo said.

"I think the audience will love it," Haruto and Rose admitted before smiling at each other. Otani covered his frown and looked away.

"Second track now," Tendo spoke trying to ease the tension in Otani's face.

Otani switched to the next tab and pressed play, as an electric alternative indie fused with hip hop soundtrack echoed the room.

"This one would be good for a Thousand Tears, the song I wrote while listening to this beat," Haruto said looking at Rose before facing everyone else.

"Okay, Haruto has covered that, now the third track," Jinji said briefly noticing Otani's scary stare as he played the song.

Then the song started with a Progressive House vibe. It was so uplifting with a poppy feel.

"I kind of feel like I'm floating in the air while listening to this song," Erica muttered as she giggled.

"It gives a bright sunshine feel of falling in love," Tendo added. 'This suits you perfectly,' he thought as he suddenly blushed a little before quickly ignored blissful feelings he felt towards her.

"If someone wrote a song called sunshine or use it as a metaphor to describe their crush. It would be great," Shinzo mentioned.

Otani said, "Actually, I wrote it already. It's called sunshine."

"Then that's great, teach us the song and vocal arrangement you have for it and we'll perform it," Rose smiled.

"Okay!" Otani smiled.
