The next week Gabriel stopped by Sydney's place to check on her and drax. When he knocked on the door a man who looked similar to drax answered it.

"Hello. My name is Gadreel. I haven't heard from Sydney lately so i thought I'd check in" gabriel said. The man let him inside without a word. He went upstairs to retrieve Sydney whike leaving gabriel downstairs awkwardly. 5 minutes went by before Sydney finally came down

"What are you doing here?" She asked

"I thought I'd check in. Maybe take you and drax out to eat" Gabriel said. Sydney looked up the stairs for a moment

"I'll have to talk to Jackson. Its up to him" she said

"Its up to your husband if you go out with friends?"

"Isnt that how its supposed to be? I was basically sold to him after all" she said

"You aren't property. You're your own person. You can make your own decisions" he said. Sheblooked into his eyes with a hint of admiration

"You're kind, but Jackson payed a lot of money for my hand in marriage." She said as she looked down and fiddled with her dress. Gabriel had  her look at him

"You dont have to marry someone just because they pay money. You marry someone only if you love them." He said. Sydney hid her tears

"I know... but i cant take drax away from his father." She said.

"Dies Jackson hurt him too?" He asked. She nodded "He will do better away from him. So will you. I know its scary but it will be worth it" Sydney shook her head

"I'm sorry Gadreel... i cant" she said quietly. Gabriel knew if he kept pushing something bad was going to happen, so he stopped. They agreed to meet the next day for dinner, but for now all Gabriel could do was go home. As soon as he stepped through the door Michael looked for Sydney.

"Hey, where is she?" He asked

"I couldnt convince her."

"I'm telling you, i can just kill him. It'll be quick" Michael said as he grabbed a baseball bat.

"Michael i already told you no. Killing him wont fix anything"

"Fine. But if it gets worse I'm killing the fucker" he said as he put the bat down

"Trust me, if it gets worse i will be the one doing the killing." Gabriel said as he sat down

"Now what do we do? We cant help them" Michael said. Gabriel leaned back and sighed

"I dont know Mikey... right now all we can do is be there for them. Hopefully Jackson wont hurt them too much."

"We cant just sit here! They're getting hurt! Gabe... she could be lying about how bad it is." Michael said. Gabriel looked down a bit

"I know... but all i can do is beleive what I'm told. She's trying to protect her son. She feels that if people dont know Jackson wont hurt him. I can respect that."

"Maybe we just need to keep trying. I will not let them stay with that guy" Michael said.

"I know you wont mikey. I wont either. All we need to do is earn her trust"

"We?"

"Yes. We. You're going to help me save them" gabriel said. A smile spread across Michael's face

"What are we waiting for? Lets go save a mother and her son"
