Elemental War

second battle.

I woke up determined. Determined to prove everyone wrong! Today was Wednesday and on Wednesday's we only had one period: Dueling Class. It was actually a larger class since the entire school would be attending. Gigi and I woke up, got ready, and made our way towards the dueling stadium.

"Are you nervous?" Gigi asked.

"A little." I replied.

"Don't be." She playfully nudged me.

I was focused.

"Welcome back students. We have a very special guest joining us to watch your performances today! Everyone rise!" President Ruth announced.

A short fair skinned old woman—who stood about four foot— waltzed into view from the stadium and on to the judging panel. She wore a royal blue mantle , her diamond crown added at-least a foot to her height. She was draped in glitzy jewels.

All the students watched in awe as the old woman sat at the spectators table. The President stood with us.

"Welcome Queen Lisbon! Our ruler of the lands!" President Ruth cheered, along  with the students.

"We're so honored to have you here today! I know the students of Omashu Academy, the best academy in the lands, will put on a very good show!" President Ruth continued.

"I'm very happy to be here. Your students are very much indeed the best, if I may say, and I don't give out compliments too often. Now dear, I don't have all day..." The Queen spoke into her microphone. She had a soft but serious voice.

The few nerves I had before had now kicked up! Not only did I have to fight for my life in front of my peers but now also the queen. I remembered how good I did at practice the day before, and took a deep breath.

"First up we have Candy Vix, fourth year water bender, shes also a member of our Academy's Dueling Squad. She's up against her fellow Dueling Squad team member, Beth Langston, third year earth bender. This will be a battle to remember!" President announced.

The Queen snickered.

Candy was a tall slender girl with long jet black hair, and piercing blue eyes. She had a slight tan and looked confident and fierce. She was very noticeably beautiful. Beth across from her had long blonde curls. Her eyes were chestnut brown, she had a small round face. She looked unamused, and was also very pretty. They stood opposite one another in their battle positions.

Ding!!!Ding!!!Ding!!!! The dueling bell rang.

In an instant Candy starting spinning in circles her jet black hair twirled as she did. Water began to surround her and spun in the same direction as she did. The watery vortex grew bigger and stronger! Beth watched from her side of the line as the spinning monstrosity of water grew taller above her.

"Wow, I think this is the first time I've seen that move in a match!" President Ruth exclaimed.

"She's got skill!" The Queen responded.

"What is Beth going to do?" President asked.

In the center of the vortex Candy wasn't twirling anymore but she had full control of the vortex around her.

Beth looked over to the spectators table then back to the vortex before bending large boulders into the vortex only for them to fly back out towards her! Beth dodged the boulders and peered back over to the vortex, a look of confusion fell over her face.

The President laughed.

The vortex was so strong you could feel it almost pulling you inwards. The sound of the water spinning around viciously scratched against our ears.

I stared in awe. You could feel the energy, the power, behind her bending. It was beautiful.

"Are you gonna stay in your water shell forever Candy?" Beth taunted.

Candy smirked before dropping out of her vortex onto the match floor all the water surrounding her clapped on to the floor. Beth immediately started hounding boulders large and small Candy's way. Candy bended frozen walls blocking each incoming bolder; causing them to crumble or freeze dead in their tracks. Candy started sending high speed icicles Beth's way! Beth enclosed herself inside a ball of rock! The icicles were no match! Beth rolled herself to the midpoint line separating her and Candy's playing sides, before hopping out of her rock-ball, she then bended two walls of rock and levitated them to each side of Candy before clapping her hands together causing the two walls of rock to crash into each other. Luckily, Candy had fell to the ground before she was crushed. Candy hopped up and quickly created another water vortex which grew bigger by the second. This time she sent the vortex towards Beth! It crept across the match floor. Beth looked puzzled on what to do. She washed her puzzled look away and replaced it with a look of determination! Beth bended a small rock about a foot away from her hand which collected more rocks, and grew bigger, as she spun around slanging the growing Boulder like she was in a game of hammer throw. The watery vortex was now near! The pressure from vortex blew Beth's yellow curls in every direction. Beth eyed Candy from the other side of the vortex and sent the now humongous Boulder flying her way, but it was too late! The vortex swept Beth inside and flying back out, she hit the wall outside of the dueling ring! Candy stood looking flawless as the students cheered.

"Great bending my dear! I want her for the war!" The Queen announced, a large smile on her face.

"She has to graduate first!" President replied.

"She's good! I'm not sure about her little team mate." The Queen scoffed.

"This might be Beth's last year on the team."  President Ruth joked.

The President and Queen giggled.

Down below, Candy helped Beth off of the floor and they walked out of the ring into the locker room.

"Up next we have Stella Vix, first year water bender, and Niko Daniels, second year air bender; not to mention he's the first second year to ever join the dueling team!"

Of course I would be paired against a dueling team member when I have to duel in front of the Queen.

"You got this!" Gigi whispered to me.

Karmen gave me a warm smile.

I took a deep breath before I made my way down the stadium steps, everything around me was a blur! I just kept replaying my practice from yesterday.

On the match floor, Niko was a brown skinned skinny guy. He had bottle blonde hair, and glowing brown eyes. He had simple yet attractive features, and stood almost six foot!

I took another breath before getting into my fighting position, my face serious as I eyed Niko and he eyed me.

Ding!!!Ding!!!Ding!!!

I bended a stream of water, and whirled it towards Niko, but he dodged the lash! He pushed his hand outwards sending a burst of air at me, almost knocking me off my feet, but I gained my balance. I flicked my arm downwards sending a quick stream of water towards Niko splashing him in the face. He blinked three times quickly before regaining his focus, and he clasped his fingers together, palms outward, and he pumped his hands three times, sending three large bursts towards me! Each burst was stronger than the last! The first burst knocked me backwards. The second burst made me hit the floor! The third burst blew me from the match floor and sent me flying into the wall behind me!

The students burst out into laughter. My heart fell to my stomach, my stomach fell into my guts. I felt embarrassed; I felt sick.

"She's horrible!" The Queen scoffed.

"She might be Omashu Academy's worst student ever!" President Ruth responded while shaking her head in disgust from the stands.

"Class is dismissed! Stella come see me in my office after class immediately!" President Ruth screamed as she stared me down evilly from the stands.

I nodded; afraid for my life! I choked as I held back my tears.
