Night had fallen. I peered out of our dorm window; a full moon lit up the sky. Gigi peeped out of the door. She nodded her head."The coast is clear!" She whispered.
We hurried down the hall.
"What's gonna happen if we get caught?" I asked a bit worried.
"We're gonna get thrown in the dungeon." Gigi spoke in a hushed tone.
I halted in the middle of the dormitory corridor.
She cackled.
"I'm just kidding! Come on scaredy-cat you want to have some fun or what?" She stopped twirling her pink feather boa around.
"Let's hurry!" I said.
I followed her, taking in the different halls along the way. The school was beautifully detailed. From the ancient stone tiles on the floor, to the larger than life size windows that expose the other parts of the castle, the blueish green sea water below, and the hills and forests in the far distance. Although the Academy was grandiose and humongous, you could still sense the isolation.
We made it outside and walked along the castle wall into the moon lit night, until we made it to a smaller building behind our dormitory. Gigi opened the building's entrance door and I began to feel the ground below us buzzing. The room we were in had a few students hanging around. Some party goers were talking on the stairs which led upstairs. Some students were chatting in a group —inside the barely decorated room— having a seemingly hilarious conversation. Two boys stood beside the elevator, a curly black haired guy, and a short guy with a blonde buzz.
"You ladies look good tonight." The blonde guy spoke.
"Only good? We look absolutely gorgeous my dear!" Gigi responded rolling her eyes and flailing her boa.
The other boy laughed.
"You both look ravishing! Now open the elevator so these girls can go have fun! They don't want to have to look at you all night!" The curly hair guy joked.
"He's absolutely right!" Gigi added.
We all laughed as the hand operated elevator began to open as the guy maneuvered the chains.
"And please don't drop us!" I added with a nervous giggle.
"I work out seven days a week I couldn't drop you if I tried." The buzz cut guy spoke with his deep coarse voice.
"Shutup!" Gigi said as we started to go down.
The music down below grew louder the further we went, then we stopped. Suddenly the elevator began to open and I couldn't believe my eyes! The room was flooded with students! The music was so loud you could feel the bass booming through your chest! The air reeked of marijuana and tobacco smoke. In the middle of the party there was a growing mosh-pit!
Gigi screamed.
"AHHHH! This is my fucking song! Let's go dance!"
"But I don't know how to dance!" I froze, but she drug me into the mosh pit before I could dig my feet into the ground.
"Don't think about it just feel it!" She began to jump around with everyone else while shaking her tail feather.
I froze for a moment while everyone around me jumped to the beat. I looked at Gigi enamored by the song. I closed my eyes, and let my inhibitions free; jumping on the beat as best I could.
She grabbed my hands and we danced together. We were both laughing . All of a sudden I realized the mosh pit had stopped moshing and was now circled around Gigi and I.
They were cheering us on, but I thought I couldn't dance. I wanted to stop, but I fought the urge and danced harder.
Then a tall dark tanned guy with piercing hazel eyes broke from the crowd. He was now in the middle with the both of us. He was glaring at me, and eased his way in front of Gigi, now standing only inches from me, and he began to dance.
I froze in my tracks, looking at him confused. Then I burst out in to laughter, and began to dance with him too.
He was astonishingly handsome. With his lush black curly hair, glistening green-hazel eyes, a jawline that could cut through stone, and he has to be at-least six feet. Perfect felt like an understatement.
"Hey what's your name?!" He screamed over the blaring music.
"Stella! Yours?!" I giggled. We were still jumping to the music the mosh pit had returned but we were still dancing close together.
"Rio! Nice dance moves!"
I grabbed the plastic red cup in his hand, and downed it, before gagging at the bitter taste.
Rio laughed hysterically.
"Want some more ?" He asked.
"Yuck! I thought that was like punch or something!"
"Sorry. It's beer."
I stuck my tongue out in disgust.
Then a short dark haired girl about my height came up to us and punched him in the arm before turning to me.
"WHY ARE YOU TALKING TO MY BOYFRIEND BITCH?" She screamed manically in my face.
"Kimberly, dude you know I broke up with you two months ago!" He added while stroking his throbbing arm.
She turned back to him.
"I DON'T REMBER THAT? You weren't looking at any other girls until this hag popped up with this tacky ass red lipstick!" Kimberly continued to blare.
"Hey that's my lipstick she has on!" Gigi called out.
"Oh well that explains it." Kimberly snarked.
"I'm a year two just like you Kimberly I will whoop your ass in a dueling match! Don't play with me!" Gigi bucked as she pointed her finger towards Kimberly.
"WHOOP WHOSE ASS? What are you going to do blow some air at me? Ooh I'm shaking in my boots!" Kimberly said sarcastically.
"Yeah I'm gonna blow your ass off the map!" Gigi screamed.
"I'll be waiting. Until then, back to your hag-friend, if I ever see you talking to my boyfriend again, I will destroy you!" She grabbed Rio by the arm and drug him away expeditiously.
Gigi rolled her eyes.
"Who is that girl, and that guy?!" I asked.
"The girl is Kimberly Mendoza she has an identical twin that also goes here but is far more antisocial, but still an evil bitch though just like her! Their parents are filthy rich and they're fire benders just like the president, so they became instant elites when they enrolled, and their bending skills aren't too shabby either. I can beat her, but it'll definitely be a vicious fight!" Gigi scoffed.
"If that's the case then she would probably incinerate my ass then." I replied.
We giggled.
"The guy is Rio Miraj. He's a year three fire bender, captain of the academy's dueling team, also one of the president's faves. I honestly don't know too much about him besides he's really popular, a phenomenal bender... maybe even the best in the school! And all the girls want him, but he came up to you girl! Everyone saw that encounter too so you'll be on everyone's radar."
"But I don't want to be on everyone's radar!"
"It's too late you already are! Look around."
I glanced around the room, making eye contact with a crowd of now averting eyes. Some students never looked away.
"But we look good and we came here to have fun! So who cares who's watching?!" Gigi spoke followed by her contagious laugh.
She grabbed my hands, and we danced into the night!
