In all the places Raven thought she'd end up by working for a literal deity, this was not one of them. She expected either Hell, Heaven, or another twisted destination that would deform the sanity's of even the calmest of men, but the random ice cream shop called Jen and Berry's that somehow popped up in their new hideout was not one of them. Neither was being accompanied with the little gremlin with mismatched eyes called Neo that was so in love with the place.
After she had exposed the old hideout, her "Boss," Y/N L/N, had made a new one. Apparently, he was still upset about the loss of his "Batcave" or whatever he called it, and having Ozpin get mighty suspicious about his new faculty, so he decided to have the most super-duper secret classified hidey space. His words not hers. It was the result of his greatest show of power yet, his magnum opus out of all the other miracles and extraordinary works he had performed. And where was this new hideout?
Nowhere, and everywhere. It had no physical presence on remnant, not a single road to traverse to, nor any plot of land to reside on. It was as Y/N described, A world between worlds. Supposedly, there was now a "reflection" of Remnant that nobody but Y/N and herself could enter. This Remnant 2.0 was mostly the same as the old one, with the same streets, buildings, and kingdoms to boot. However, there was one major difference, the space was completely devoid of life. The eerily silent atmosphere born form a lack of any Human or Faunus presence was enough to even make the former bandit queen Raven Branwen herself uneasy. Hell, there was no plant life either, no grass or trees or anything. The entire world was a barren desert littered with a few monuments and abandoned civilizations. The Forever Fall Forest was now just the forever desert as it stretched on for infinity. There was no sea by the settlement of Argus, and the wild wilderness on the outskirts of Mistral. The world was as dead and diminished as a century old corpse.
When Raven asked Y/N whether he would populate the vast empty plains with at least some vegetation, he explained that it would be a lot more trouble than it would be worth. He would first have to create rivers and such, insects such as bees to pollinate, too much effort to put into something that would be unseen by a vast majority of people.
But he did at least scatter a few shops and restaurant establishments around the several kingdoms and towns that would feed and house any guests that somehow managed to make their way here, something Raven and her new short stack friend were making full use of.
Y/N disliked having his hideout discovered so much he recreated the entire world and made it his hideout just so no one could find it.
Y/N explained that he got the idea of creating such a place, a whole new universe or world or whatever the correct terminology was, from a TV series called "Stranger Things." He dubbed this new world the "right-side up," and didn't explain what the context to such a name was. Stupid. It was at times like this Raven contemplated the meaning of her existence and considered the benefits of just ending it all, but then realized an actual God was her employer and decided against such machinations.
Now, to enter such a world was very straightforward. All Raven had to do was use an App on her scroll, and she'd be magically transported to the "right-side up." Unsurprisingly, this concept was not an original idea either, as Y/N begrudgingly admitted that he stole this mechanic from a video game called "Persona 5." For an omnipotent and omniscient being, he was not very creative.
Abruptly, Raven was ejected from her thoughts as she heard a few crashes coming from the Ice cream shop was brought to against her will. The new girl, Neo, who joined them out of anger for Roman Torchwick abandoning them, was allowed into the hideout by Y/N. He had met with her before heading to Beacon for a bit to investigate a security breach in his office, and the two somehow became quite close. Y/N used his knowledge and general bullshit Gary Stu powers to know what Neo was attempting to converse without her making a sound, a trait the child with an umbrella was quite interested in. And it kind of snowballed from there.
