Daily quote by Y/N:
"Regret is not a feeling of remorse for not taking a certain action, but rather one's reflection on an alternate path of life they had an option of taking. In the grand scheme of the multiverse, with infinite timelines and branching realities, such reflection is rather insignificant. Essentially, do whatever the fuck you want cause nothing matters"

James Ironwood POV

It didn't happen often, but sooner or later some poor fool would fail so spectacularly that some powerful individuals would have to meet together in order to sort out the mess. Apparently, the CCT network, at least on Vacuo's end, wasn't up to par with its counterparts. The lone tower in the desert was so undefended both physically and software wise, that it was the largest back door to all other secure networks it was crucially connected to. Someone with either half a brain or too much time on there hands discovered that essentially, if one could compromise Vacuo's network, they could use it to exploit and conquer every other network on the face of Remnant.

Now, if it was just that lone wolf who nipped the moose, then at least the situation would be manageable. The security breach would be isolated, contained, and the perpetrator would be brought to justice. However, the assailant decided the treasure he found was too worthy for only himself to enjoy, and generously declared the vulnerabilities publicly on every single social media website and news center.

For about 23 hours, the world was in utter chaos. Bank accounts, confidential internal documents, black operations, and even Mistral dungeon porn swept the internet. Atlas knights, and other autonomous security droids either attacked civilians, each other, or started breakdancing. The personal details of almost every citizen in every kingdom and settlement was available to view. Hell, even Menagerie was hit, and they didn't even have a CCT tower!

So to sum it all up, everything went to shit.

Fortunately, everything was traced back to the initial compromised site, a full purge of the CCT was enacted, Bank accounts were secured, passwords were changed, and no one died. It was a Christmas miracle how it all worked out, and so much so that almost every bureaucrat was on their knees thanking the two brothers, who obviously didn't hear them or didn't care.

However, while the physical and financial pandemoniums were situated, there was still one glaring issue that lingered over all like a storming hurricane, politics. Politicians blamed each other, citizens lost faith in the government, almost every kingdom was now in debt, well, more than they already were, and a bunch more other shit that needed to be taken care of. So it was decided that a summit would be held, between all the councils and special representatives from the huntsman academies, to resolve the remaining issues.

And that is how General Ironwood, operating on only an hour of sleep in the past few days, several dozen shots of espresso, ended up at Beacon academy during his scheduled vacation week. More specifically, he was stationed at the conference room in the faculty wing of the school, accompanied by his second in command, Winter Shcnee, and a few of his specialist operatives. Currently, the board was reviewing an legislative order that would give financial credit to banks and other institutions who had lost a metric shit-ton of lien, until the money could be tracked down and returned.

James:"So in conclusion, the heads of their respective kingdoms will provide assistance to the agreed upon unions, all in favor?"

It took a lot of lobbying, arguing, shady deals, and somehow about 3 grams of cinnamon, but the whole debacle, named the Meta-Breach, was almost behind them. As all of the present representatives voted their support, the crisis was officially over. Those who tuned in the live stream breathed a huge sigh of relief, and the trust in the government was a little less diminished. But still, work for Ironwood specifically, was still far from over.

While the whole world went on unaware, focused on their own squabbles and surviving the Grimm, the inner circle operated regardless. Sure the original guy was caught, punished, and thrown in a hole for the rest of his life, but the damage he unleashed left scars. If the data leak was that bad, surely Salem knew about, and even more plausible she made good use of it.

So while the conference ended, and everyone said their goodbyes, Ironwood left for the Headmaster's office, the central tower.

Ozpin:"James, right on time I see. So, now that the lies have been spread, and the public conscious unaware, how bad is it really."

James:"Thankfully, our own intel, files on the maidens, locations of the relics, and other key assets were left untouched. All were secure in an adjacent server, one not connected to the CCT. Our work is undisturbed as of now."

Glynda:"But what about everything else? Surely there was something in all that info that Salem could use to her advantage?"

James:"Yes there was. Software keys, patents and blueprints, and full background access to the Atlas military defense systems are presumed to be in her hands. However, I have commissioned a full restoration of everything, completely new systems, code, and keys. My team is now underway rebuilding the entire CCT from the ground up, ensuring this will never happen again."

Qrow:"Sure, that sounds neat. But until that's up and running we're still in deep shit."

James:"Vulgar, but true. I have a contingency planned. I set up a group to survey all interactions on our network, and limited access to our most crucial domains. Anything suspicious activity detected will result in a full shutdown of the network, the excuse given will be that we are still updating the CCT."

Ozpin:"Good work, James. It seems you've thought of everything, but don't get comfortable. Salem will surely use this situation to her advantage, it's only a matter of how an- where is Mr. L/N? I believe he was to be present for this meeting."

James wasn't put off at first, but then he realized he hadn't seen Y/N L/N AT ALL. Not during the meetings or summits, and certainly not at the initial gathering. If he was just lazy or ignorant, then James would surely have a talk with Ozpin on who he recommends be invited into the inner circle.

However, if Y/N did not attend for a reason, and had malicious purposes, then that was a different story. The man was unique, unusual, but in a way that isolated him from others. If he was up to something, something malevolent, the one could only imagine the cruel machinations he was conjuring right now.
