When I pictured Beacon's initiation process, I expected a written assessment test, some tours and lectures, maybe a spar or two.
Not launching fucking children off a cliff into the wilderness filled with hellish creatures seeking the genocide of man.
I remember it took all my willpower not to blow this school off the map, clearly and forcefully I made my stance on why this was a bad idea. The other professors didn't seem too bothered though, as if they had dealt with this reaction many times before.
So here I was, standing with Ozpin and Glynda about to send some noobs into the belly of the beast.
Y/N:"Should we really be doing this? We are literally yeeting children into the wilderness. Aren't you the least bit concerned?"
Ozpin:"As I have told you multiple times Professor L/N, this is the way we have done it for years, even before I was Headmaster. If we want them to become the Huntsmen and Huntresses of tommorow, they must first learn to hunt."
Glynda:"I uderstand your scepticism Mr. L/N, but know that these students have been training for this their entire lives, I believe they are more than ready for the challenges ahead of them."
Y/N:"I get that, but what if one of them dies? How are you going to live with that?"
Ozpin:"We have had, 'incidences' in the past, but rest assured, the students are not completely helpless. If we deem their situation too dangerous, the upperclassmen will drop in and provide assistance."
Y/N:"And you couldn't have told me that before dragging me out here?!"
The fucker just sipped his coffee and said nothing.
One by one, all the huntsmen in training arrived at the cliff. In the group I saw Ruby, who gave me a hopeful smile. I sent one back in encouragement, but stopped after I noticed yang cracking her knuckles at me. Blake was also there, not paying any attention. The rest of the faces present, I didn't really recognize. I made sure to memorize them for later though . I would be teaching them after all.
Just about before the initiation got started, I got a call on my scroll. From Roman.
Well it wasn't my REAL scroll, the one I was given from Beacon, it was just a dummy. That however didn't stop it from being the worst possible time.
I turned to Ozpin, clearly he wasn't happy about me taking a call in the middle of an important event.
Y/N:"I've gotta take this, don't worry, I'll be right back."
Ozpin:"No rush L/N, take all the time you need."
Glynda seemed dissatisfied and scoffed as I walked away. Honestly couldn't blame them right now, but I had business to take care of. Again. I hit accept and brought the scroll to my ear.
Y/N:"What the FUCK do you think you're doing, huh?! Be glad that I'm indulging this right now, you almost got me caught!"
Roman:"Listen, don't get your panties in a twist, I wouldn't have called if it wasn't for a good reason. We have a problem."
Y/N:"I thought I said to have no more problems! I gave you tactics and enough dust to go to war with Atlas! What could possibly need my attention now?"
Roman:"You know my boss, wait, my 'former' boss Cinder, the one you wanted Intel on?"
Y/N:"Yeah?"
Roman:"She apparently knows about you somehow. She doesn't know we are working together, but she has been looking for someone like you. And I may have slipped up and told her about our little skirmish at the dust shop, now she wants to bring you in for a chat."
