Y/N POV
Dying feels weird, It's not painful, its not peaceful, its just, nothing. Well, it wasn't really painful per say, as I guess a bullet straight through your cranium would end you pretty quick. But afterwards? Its just black, as far as the eye can see, (if I even have eyes anymore) I guess all those philosophers were wrong. Oh, You want to know how I actually died? Well, it all started with the release day of Half-Life: Alyx.

Y/N: "Finally After over a decade, it's finally here!"
Racing home with a smile on my face, Hardly containing my excitement, I reflected on the most important moments of my life that got me to this moment. Valve was actually releasing a new Half-life game! I've always been a gamer, but it was the Half-life series that really made me get into PC's. I just really loved the games, their great story, environments, next-gen graphics (for their time), and ESPECIALLY the characters! and when I heard that the next game was coming in only a few months, and that it would be in VR? well, let's just say I got a ton of noise complaints in my neighborhood.
Dodging pedestrians and light poles as I hurried towards my house, some thing felt, off. I was suddenly dizzy and out of focus, for what I assumed to be a random headache. Strange, it was as almost I could hear a faint voice speaking in my head. And why is that Guy in the blue suit and briefcase watching me? Did I really look that bad? Actually, looking at him now, he seemed strangely familiar, like I've seen him many times before, but from where? However, as quick as I noticed him, he slipped behind the crowd. Pushing the weird experience from my head, I approached the cross walk, only a few blocks form my place. Abruptly, some kid blindly ran out into the street, into oncoming traffic?! What the fuck was she doing there? Where were her parents?! Out of nowhere, a black SUV screeched down the lane, the driver apparently unaware of the small child he was about to turn into modern art.
With what was most likely the worst decision of my life, I sprinted off the curb, grabbed the kid, and threw her as far as I could. Now note that, well, I'm not that physically fit. I mean, I'm not fat, but I don't have any upper body strength what-so ever, so it was to my surprise, and many others, when the six-ish year old sailed through the air like a bird and crashed into the arms of a crippled, old man. For a split second, I celebrated. Congratulating myself on saving a life. Then I remembered the 2 ton monstrosity that was abut to hit me. I braced myself for my untimely demise, but nothing came.
I looked around, and saw the world as if God himself hit the pause button. Time had seemed to just, stop. Everyone around me looking at me with gaping mouths and widened eyes, as if they were screaming. Turning around, I marveled upon the automobile that would take me to the next life, just inches from my body. What was this? This, this is crazy! Frantically I called out to the spectators, trying to get a reaction, just even the slightest acknowledgment at what what was going on. But no one did. In shock, I collapsed onto the ground, desperately attempting to find an explanation for this, or forcing myself to wake up from this lucid nightmare. Then all of a sudden, I hear a voice all too familiar.
???:" Rise and shine, Mr L/N, Rise and... shine."
Y/N:"Wait, what? Who said that!? Please, please help, somethings going on!"
???:"Oh not to worry, Mr L/N, Everything is under my control."
Turning my head to the voice, I saw someone who didn't exist, someone who was just a character in one of my favorite games.
