We had been driving for what felt like forever. Carter had turned the music all the way up. I could barely think. As we reached the hotel we were staying at, I heard him ask?" so what'll happen when all this over?" I thought about the question. I really had no idea. "Probably finish high school and go off to college unless a new mission comes up between now and then," I said. "Will you still be with Cole?" He asked as he turned the music down. I looked over at him. Why would he ask me that? "Um I honestly don't know. He and I have been at war for a while and I don't know if it's still worth the fight. Whenever I'm around him, I just feel weird," I replied as I looked down at my hands. "Well how does he make you feel?" I thought about it. "Like I'm free to go but I have to carry someone else's weight," I said as we reached the hotel. As I reached for the door handle, I heard a click. The door wouldn't open. "Unlock the door, Carter," I told him. "I will after you answer my question. Would you prefer to be with a guy who knows a third of what you know or a guy who knows more?" He said. I heard the door click for the second time. I got out of the car, leaving the question unanswered. As I approached the desk, the girl behind it asked, "do you need help miss?" I took a second to gather my thoughts. "Yes, I have reserved a room. Lotte Jackson," I said. She typed something into the computer and said, "your roommate has already checked in. Room 129," the girl said. I began to head toward the elevator when Carter entered. He obviously didn't see me. The doors shut and I felt the movement of the elevator. When the elevator stopped and the door opened, I walked toward my room. I knocked on the door that read 129. Ash opened the door and said, "I thought you had died or something. Come on in,"she said as she shut the door behind us. My bags were already in the room and were unpacked. Hers were also. "I already organized the room. I can understand if you want some sleep. I'll see you in the morning," she said as she stepped into the other room. I jumped onto my bed and everything after that is kind of blurry.
