Chapter 5: Moving Forward

It was the next morning after the two hugged for the first time, they didn't want to show that they liked it, but it was pretty obvious. They both had the idea that the other one didn't hate it at least. They were sitting together on the couch eating waffles when Dana and Carol walked in.

"Hey! How was last night? Did you two sleep good?" Carol asked.

They both looked up and in unison replied with "Yep!"

"I heard you two talking a lot last night...seems like you guys are enjoying your summer together?" Dana said with a smile.

Ricky and Nini looked at each other with a light smile, both remembering the hug from last night.

"Yeah mom! Uh...we might just hang out at the house today...if that's alright?" Nini questioned.

"Should be good! Momma C and I are gonna go downtown for the day...we should be back by dinner time."

"Okay sounds good! Love you guys!" Nini replies as she watches her moms walk out the door.

"Okay well...I should probably go get ready...I look like a mess as you would probably say.", she says while looking at Ricky, smirking.

He laughs a little, "Ah...nice one. You do look like you just walked through a hurricane though-"

She rolls her eyes and playfully smacks his arm, "Hey!"

They laugh for a moment and then Nini walks upstairs and into her room. Ricky also going into his bedroom. They both pick out outfits and continue on into their bathroom to brush their teeth and finish getting ready.

{After a few minutes}

Ricky was done before Nini, so he just walked into her room and saw her staring into her mirror, humming, and finishing getting ready. He walked up behind her and said, "You have a nice voice", making Nini jump at the sight his reflection in the mirror.

She turned around and sarcastically said, "Woah...Bowen are you feeling, okay? Did you just give me a compliment?"

"Ha ha very funny Roberts" He replies.

Ricky was looking down on her counter and noticed a baby picture of Nini. He was standing behind her, so he put one hand around her waist and then used the other one to reach around her and grab the picture. Nini immediately feeling butterflies flood her stomach.

"Ha baby Roberts!" He exclaims, looking at the photo.

"I was cute, wasn't I?"

Ricky pauses for a second, "Sure", he says sarcastically.

Nini turns and looks at him.

"I hate you even more now." She says, smirking and walking out of her bathroom.

Ricky turned on her TV to a basketball station and started watching. Nini picked up her ukulele and messed around with songs and tunes. They just kinda chilled together.

{Hours later}

Nini was sitting in her chair, staring at Ricky watching basketball still. She wanted to get back at him for putting his hand around her waist earlier this morning.

"Hey Bowen, come here.", She said while standing up. He got up and walked over.

"Yes Roberts? I'm kinda watching basketball here." He said annoyed.
