Chapter 13: The Big Question

It was the day before the group was leaving the lake house. They had spent their time riding a boat on the lake, tubing, chilling and playing games.

Today they were planning on just hanging by the lake and swimming. Today was also the day Ricky was going to ask Nini to be his girlfriend. He felt pretty nervous and anxious throughout the day. But he tried to hide it so Nini would enjoy her time and not worry about him.

Nini and Ricky were sharing a room and he was chilling on the bed while Nini gets ready. She seemed a little off and Ricky wanted to make sure she was okay.

"Hey Neens?"

She turns her head, "Hm?"

"You, okay?"

"What? Yeah, yeah, I'm good. Why- why would you think I'm...not okay?" She quickly says.

Ricky shakes his head, smiling, "Just making sure."

Nini walks out of the bathroom wearing a red swimsuit.

Ricky eyes widen and his eyebrows raise, "Wow...you look...beautiful."

Nini smiles, "It is your favorite color after all."

"You wearing it makes it ten times better." He smirks.

Ricky gets up and walks over to Nini who looks a little confused. He wraps his hands around her waist and pulls her in, bringing his lips to hers. Her hands travel around his neck and through his hair as she kisses him back.

As they're doing that, the bedroom door opens, and Big Red is standing there. The two quickly pull away and look at him, trying to hold in their laugh.

Big Red rolls his eyes, "Would you two stop making out for once and come down to the back yard? We set up a waterslide that goes into the lake!"

Ricky and Nini look at each other as Big Red leaves. They start laughing then they run out to the back yard.

They open the door and music and chatter fill their ears as they see everybody partying and having fun.

"Heyy you two! Finally came out to join us, eh?" EJ says as he wraps his arm around Gina.

Nini smiles at them, "You two are really cute. I'm happy ya'll decided to get together."

"Ahh thanks Neens!", Gina says, "How 'bout you two? Hard to tell whether you're dating or not considering all the...kissing we've seen."

Nini fakes a laugh, "Hah! No...we're not- we're not dating..."

Ricky stays silent and her smile slowly fades away.

Nini excuses herself from the conversation and then heads towards Kourtney, Seb, and Carlos.

EJ and Gina look back at Ricky.

"Bro...she's looking a little upset..." EJ says. Gina agrees.

"I'm just waiting for the right time, okay? I want it to be special and romantic. I mean- I'm sure yours was right?"

EJ and Gina start giggling, "Yeah well...actually EJ asked me in the car on the way home from a date." Gina says.

"I- I didn't really plan it out well." EJ answers.

"It's alright babe...you tried." Gina laughs, patting his shoulder.

Ricky smiles at them and then they head over to the rest of the group.
