Chapter 28: Kloan's Madness

Andi:

It all happened so fast.

I was about to activate my suit when one Skeldoram grabbed my arm and rammed me against the floor, making me scream in pain.

But the moment faded when I kicked involuntarily.

It connected with its chest and the slobbery dog alien got distracted momentarily, it's grip loosened and I managed to transform into my Power Mode Athena suit.

I saw my mate fighting the Skeldoram, his usual eyes have turned bright red as his fangs grew sharps as he grabbed one alien by the throat and ripped him apart with his huge fangs.

The savage scene made me shudder as I used the blade attached to my suit and decapacitated the foes that got in my way till I reached Sir Rion who was still pinned to the ground.

Using the momentum, I jump kicked Skeldoram's snout which made him whimper as I helped the older Kindred up when the alien went flying due to the impact of my actions.

thanks to the powerful jet-propelled mechanism built on my suit.

One by one, the aliens were killed till only the Norvadian with milky eyes was left and he took one look at Krei and cursed as he retreated.

I looked around and felt a bit sick. There were so many dead bodies and a mix of purple and black blood splattered everywhere.

Then I saw him, his huge body heaving with every breath he took; his eyes were still red and he was growling as his fangs were sharp and stained with his enemy's blood. He looked absolutely feral which made me hesitate to go to him.

"I am okay, Princess. Calm my son down. Quickly." Rion pushed me towards him as I nodded and walked slowly towards him.

"K-Krei...I am fine. We are both fine. Please come back to me..." I went closer and he did nothing to me but growled but then his arms went around me and I felt his body shaking as his face sniffed my neck, much to my shock.

He...he was worried. Worried for me.

This beautiful gorgeous warrior of mine and I was scared of him for a minute after seeing him kill.

I...I am so ashamed.

"Safe...." his animalistic growl changed to his usual voice. " Thank the Goddess."

I urged him to look at me and I was relieved to see that he was okay. I hugged him and thanked the Goddess that he snapped out of his rage.

After that, We all left the underground. We managed to rendezvous with Karyn's group.

But the city is no longer safe so Siria decided to go to her base at the mountain forest of  Sonoma where we can hide till the Resistance makes a plan with the maps we stole from the Palace.

Two days later...

Sonoma Forest
Siria's Camp...

"The covert plan was a 50% success. We got the map plans of the Palace but it seems like the usurper is now alerted to the possibility of intruders since you guys got caught." 

Siria visited my room one night. She has not been getting enough sleep due to all the meetings and planning we have been having.

Right now we are in a hidden camp base in Sonoma where the silver mists concealed our location from any outsiders. 

"Did you hear about the news?"

"What news?"

"Word has been spreading around Norvadia. They say that word has spread about the King's heir being alive. That hope is causing people to take action. Rebellions from several towns have been happening and a few shadow groups who are against the usurpers rule has resurfaced and currently the Royal Palace is in an uproar. We have been getting much more supports and supplies from a few people who believe in the cause. Everyone wants you back on the throne."

I nodded. After seeing just how much my uncle has desecrated the royal throne with his orgies and corrupt ways. I have now decided...

that even I am a better choice for a ruler.

Even if I still find myself lacking.

"But as our supporters grow. Kloan's madness is sweeping through every city, town, and village. Wanted posters of you, Krei, Sir Rion, and even...the dowager queen have been posted in every office. The usurper wanted you two alive and the rest...dead. It has gotten so bad that his men have started slaughtering random people especially females." My friend scratched her hand in frustration. " Which means that you may have to lay low for a few days.." 

I looked out the window in frustration. To be able to do nothing was annoying but we had no choice. We were barely able to escape from the Royal Palace and that was only because of my mate going crazy because I was threatened.

"Krei, Karyn, and Captain Asher are training our men well. You and the dowager queen are helping out our cause by inventing a few weapons to assist us in our fights. I think you are helping us enough, Princess." Siria held my hand. " If you had not come....The resistance of Astra would have been slowly destroyed."

"Siria...." I smiled as I squeezed her calloused hand. " Once this is over. What do you want to do?"

"Me?" She looked unsure of whether to divulge her dreams to me but I coaxed her so she finally gave in. " I want to be a Minister of Law and Order but by tradition, females are not allowed to be royal ministers."

"I see. Hold on to that dream." I smiled at her as we talked a bit more before she left to let me rest for the day.

The lilac-blue sky tuned to night  as I pulled off my sticky clothes off as I grabbed a bathing robe on and made my way to the camp's nearby water springs.

Where I can wash and hopefully calm down my nerves at what happened that day.

When I passed by the guards who were guarding the entrance to the lake, they bowed low to me.

The gentle waves of the numerous springs glowing and bubbling captivated me for an instant before I passed by them and went deeper into the forest till I saw the biggest spring pool that had trees with flowers blooming amongst the branches.

The sweet smell comforted me briefly as I disrobed and laid my clothes on a nearby rock and slowly submerged myself inside the pool.

Gentle whispers of the night time breeze and the warm spring water relaxed my body like no other and slowly, my eyes began to close as I let the water take away my fatigue.

But then I felt the water level shift, jolting me from my drowsy state until I felt someone's arms around me.

"Wake up, sharana. You nearly fell asleep in here. You are going to catch a cold."
