Jay hummed to himself, scribbling a bunch of words in a notebook. He hummed the same melody over and over again, trying to perfect it. Looking at the messy words he had written down, he sang them along with the tune. His fingers searched for different keys on the piano, trying to come up with a melody that went well with the little part of a song that he had just come up with.

When he couldn't find anything, he leaned back into his chair and sighed. He softly hummed his song, but slower, which added a melancholic tone to it. Jay had always been a songwriter, but no one knew. Well, no one except Abri. He liked his songs but he knew they weren't the greatest, causing him never to share them with anyone. His words were simple and to the point, his melodies weren't the best, but they were his, and his lyrics were his story.

Jay heard the front door open. "Abrianna?" He called out.

"Yeah, it's me." She walked into the living room, where he was sitting, and sat across him on the couch. He noticed she was a wearing a mini dress and makeup, something she didn't usually wear.

Jay raised an eyebrow at her look. "Where did you go?"

"A date."

"Who's he?"

"She."

Jay looked surprised. "I thought you said you would never date girls because you wanted your own children?"

"I know." She exhaled, sinking deeper into the couch and putting her legs on the coffee table. "But guys are just annoying, dude. Girls are just easier to get along with. I mean, I feel like it's okay if one day I can't have my own children. I can always adopt, right?"

"Right." Jay got up from his chair and settled beside Abri. "Your makeup looks stupid."

Abri scoffed. "Well it's not like I know how to do it."

"You should've asked Hazel."

"I did. She was busy."

"So," Jay switched his position so that his head was on her lap, "How was the date?"

"It was great. She's really pretty and smart but I don't think I'll go out with her anymore."

He frowned. "Why?"

"'Cause her name is Brianna."

"Okay, and?"

Abri looked at him incredulously. "Are you not seeing the problem with it? Her name is literally mine minus one letter."

"Hold on," Jay held his hand up, looking confused, "You don't want to go out with her because her name is almost the same as yours?"

"Yes! I mean, imagine if someone asks our kids their parents' names and they say, 'My mom's name is Brianna, and my other mom's name is Abrianna.' Ridiculous!"

Jay looked at her like she was crazy. "You're delusional."

"No, I'm being realistic."

"Whatever."

Abri ran her fingers through Jay's hair. "What's up with you, buddy?"

Jay exhaled. "I ran into Niki today."

"And?"

"And.....she was with River and that made me jealous. I let my emotions get to me and was rude to them. I think they noticed."

"That's okay, Jay. You're human. You can apologize."

"Why was she even with River? I don't get it. Colette wasn't even around. Why are they both hanging out alone? I thought they hated each other?"
