Amrita's POV-

Did he just say what I thought he said?

Everyone started applauding and had wide smiles etched on their faces. I was rooted to my position, not being able to move.

Siddhant held my hand tightly and walked with me to the center of the stage. The claps grew louder.

"Sid-Siddhant, I-what, I-I, what is t-this?"

I couldn't even speak words properly because of the shock.

"Sh. Just go with the flow," He whispered back.

We stood in the center of the stage and then, Siddhant's parents walked up.

"Do you, Siddhant Saaho, vow to uphold your mafia empire as the Don and pledge to Omertà ?" Siddhant's father asked.

"I do," Siddhant replied.

The crowd cheered louder.

"Do you, Amrita Nair, vow to uphold your mafia empire as the Donna and pledge to Omertà ?" Siddhant's mother asked.

I gulped and face Siddhant. The harsh glare he gave me was evident.

"No," I was about to say when Siddhant gripped my hand harshly.

"Say no and I'll put a bullet through Sia's head," He whispered so no one else could hear.

My eyes widened in fear and my heart thumped extremely loudly.

"I-I do."

With these 2 words, my fate was sealed forever.

Siddhant's father took out a shiny silver knife, which had a gold lining across the handle, and held Siddhant's right hand and cut his palm, drawing out blood. He did the same with me, making me hiss in pain. Siddhant held my hand and joined our palms together, so the blood could mix. I tried pulling it away but he held my hand tighter.

Siddhant's parents walked off the stage and returned with 2 crowns- the ones I saw in the mansion the other day.

His father lifted the crown with sapphires and placed it on Siddhant's head, making an uproar of cheers amongst the crowds.

His mother then turned to me and raised the crown with rubies, for the Donna, and placed it on my head ever so gently.

The crowd roared louder.

I wanted to cry, yell, destroy things. I never wanted this. I never wanted any of this.

I held Siddhant's arm and dragged him to a corner.

"Siddhant, what-I, what is all this?" I stuttered, still not being able to speak properly.

"This is the coronation ceremony, Amrita. I'm sorry for not informing you earlier. Even I got to know today itself," He defended himself.

"I c-can't do this," I sobbed, "I can't be the queen of the m-mafia."

"You will need to be."

"You threatened to kill Sia. How could you?!" I yelled, slapping his chest.

"I wouldn't actually do that. Ravi and you will start hating me. I can't afford to loose the most important people in my life, can I?"

"P-please, let me go," I requested, wiping a lone tear.

"I can't do that, love. Now, we need to go back to the stage," He said and dragged me by my hand before I could say anything.

He guided us to the center of the stage and held my hand tightly, like I would disappear any second.
