*riiiing riiiing*"What is it that you want now, Forth?! We're done talking! I told you we'll do things on my terms, but I wasn't satisfied with your answer, so quit it! I will not tell you where Beam is!" Summer growled as soon as she answered my call.
After my talk with my mother, I finally learned my true answer to Summer's question. "Summer please, I really need to speak to Beam. I...", my voice breaking as I was beginning to be overwhelmed with emotions. "Beam is..."
Few days before...
I was still bummed out on what transpired on my lunch date with Summer yesterday. I was really hoping to get information about Beam. But I guess it's my fault because I couldn't even answer a simply question properly. At this point, I'm lost on what to do so I can talk to Beam.
Instead of stewing in despair, I decided to go to the officer earlier than usual. I figured I'd do some needed work to make my little down time in looking for Beam productive. I'll think of something I'm sure but at least to get my frustration off my mind, I'll make it work it off.
As expected, I arrived in the office with none of my staff around. Well, it was still an hour before office hours. They're probably on their way or having breakfast in one of the shops near our building. I busied myself in checking my work email and replying on those that needed my input. I was reading a freshly printed budget plan for my review when my secretary arrived. She was evidently surprised when she saw me.
"Oh Sir! Errrr... What are you doing here?" She asked dumbfounded.
"Huh? It's an office work day so I reported to my office. Is there something wrong?" I asked back non-chalantly.
Perhaps she realized how silly her question was, she chuckled. "Hehe! Sorry sir. I received a message from the president's secretary saying that you two will not be reporting to work for some family matters. That's why I was surprised to find you here."
"Oh really?" It was my turn to be surprised. "I wasn't told anything about it."
"Maybe you can call the president to find out sir." My secretary suggested. "I'll go get you some come coffee while you do that."
I dialled my father and he answered after a couple of rings. "Hello Forth? Perfect timing! I'm on my way to your place."
"Huh? I'm already at the office."
"Oh? Okay."
"Dad, I was told that my secretary was informed that we will not be reporting to work for a few days, what's this about?"
"I think it'll be better if we talk about it in person. Let's meet at the mansion."
"But dad, I have work to do."
"Trust me son, this is much more important than that."
"Alright. With the current traffic, my ETA would be around half an hour."
"Perfect. See you then. Take care son."
I dropped the call and grabbed my coat as my secretary got back with my coffee. "Sorry, got to run. Need to meet dad at home, it seemed really important for him to ask me to come in person. Tell everyone I trust their judgements but if there's really something that requires my input, don't hesitate to call me."
"Yes, sir. Don't worry. We'll handle it. Just focus on what you need to do and enjoy."
There's some meaning on those last words she said but I paid it no mind. I rushed to my car and drove off. Thirty minutes or so later, I was already parking my car inside our mansion. I was informed by the maid who saw me to proceed to the main living room.
