Forth POV

I stirred awake a few hours after slumbering with Beam. But my boyfriend was not in my arms anymore when I opened my eyes.

"Beam?" I got up while scratching my eyes.

No response.

"Beam?" I called his name again.

Still no response.

A sudden wave of panic jolt me awake. "Beam?! Beam?!"

I rushed out the door of the bedroom and was welcomed with the aromatic smell of garlic coupled with the sound of sizzles. Standing by our kitchen counter was the person I was looking for, his back facing me. Beam was busy cooking breakfast. A plate of freshly cooked fried rice was in the middle our small dining table. I walked silently towards him and gave him a backhug as soon as I was in the proper spot.

"Good morning..." I kissed my boyfriend in the sensitive spot on his neck.

"Forth!" Beam was startled that he almost dropped the frankfurter back to the pan. But he got his composure back quickly and faced me smiling. "Good morning!"

His overall demeanor was pleasant. No traces of the conflict that we had last night.

"Go on and sit down. I'll just cook your favorite omelet and then I'll serve you your coffee." He said as he continued cooking.

I sat down on the table and waited for Beam to finish his task. Minutes after, he walked to the table and placed the plate hot off the pan frankfurters and omelet.

Beam then served me my breakfast. He placed some fried rice on my plate, a frankfurter and a portion of the omelet. He went back to the kitchen to get some coffee from the coffee maker. When he came back, a steaming hot cup of black coffee was paired with my meal.

"A hearty breakfast for the king of heart!" Beam exclaimed as he completed his service.

Beam sat down beside me and watched me as I gorged down the breakfast he prepared for me. It was heartwarming. I can feel his absolute love and affection for me in every bite that I took. But our little incident last night kept swimming in my head.

I put my spoon and fork down and quickly gave Beam a hug. "I'm sorry... about last night."

Beam hugged me tighter and shook his head that was buried between my bare chest. He then looked up and smiled at me.

"It's okay. I understand." He pulled back and cupped my face with both hands. "And I will always try to understand you." Then he gave me a kiss on my forehead.

"But I was harsh with you last night to the point that I wounded you..." I silenced my lips with a finger.

"It's alright Forth. I'm a nurse. I know how to handle wounds. But just to be safe, I'll go get myself checked during my break later." He said, never breaking his gaze on me. There was not a trace of anger nor disdain in his expression nor voice.

Beam is truly the most kindred person I have ever met. I'm so lucky that I'm in a relationship with him.

We made plans to attend my bestfriend Lam's birthday party that evening. I wanted to introduce him to my friends who will be attending the event. I've been caught up with work for the passed months so it was the only opportunity to hangout with the guys.

I fetched Beam that evening from the hospital. Just like what I used to do before, I looked for him in the wing he's assigned to. Upon seeing me, he smiled and gave me a kiss.

"You ready to go?" I asked my lovely boyfriend.

"Yes, but let's just drop by the pharmacy to get my meds then we're good to go." Beam said as he rounded his arm around mine.
