I think I would need to put my foot down on this. So fair warning, this is going to sound majorly conceited, especially for those who just discovered me recently and have not read a lot of my books. But this has been my stand ever since I switched from silent reader to fanfic author/translator.
Reading the comments from the last chapter, it is easy to see the great divide among the readers of this book. You can even easily seperate them into two intertwined groups: -My Profile followers vs non-followers -Loyal Reader vs casual and new reader
It really irks me when I receive a comment that says: PLEASE UPDATE. I received so many in my on-going books that I wrote a standard reply for them which provides my astute view of their repugnant act:
Hi, I would appreciate it if you will not post shits like this. It rubs off as demanding especially coming from a non-regular reader of my works. Because my followers know that I post virtually at least one chapter a day in selected works running in a cycle. It's my way of keeping them appeased while some of my books are on hiatus. Seeing that you're not one of them and I don't earn a single cent in writing my fics... I. DON'T. OWE. YOU. ANYTHING. If you cannot wait, then don't read my works.
If ever I fail to upload a daily chapter, I will post something in my bulletin board stating the reason. Just like what happened when the last chapter was delayed.
Also, can you please introduce me to an author that truly feels happy when they receive a PLEASE UPDATE comment? I would really like a chat with him/her because I want to know the psychology behind this happiness. Those who post shits like that tend to think that it sends the message that they appreciate our work. Well read my lips: IT. DOESN'T.

I'm a nice person. Promise. I used to work in HR-Employee Engagement. I get along with everyone. I pride myself in providing edgier alternatives to the prevalent fluffy stories about ForthBeam. I made the decision to become an author because I want to serve that niche audience who happen to like the stories I also like. That's why I am not obsessed with having a lot of readers because from the start I already acknowledged that some of the themes of my stories are not for everyone.
I specialize in emotional stories. Not just angst. I'm the kind of author that makes you evoke feelings and emotions while you read my stories. It's my primary objective in writing.
If you don't like my work, then don't read it. Simple as that. Whether you read it or not has no effect. I won't earn a dime. Complaining will not also do anything but spur my ire. When I was still a silent reader, there are books that I dropped because either the work was illogical (top of mind, the one where Beam died because a metal vibrator was pushed to his ass. Like wtf?) or the work was poorly written. But I didn't leave a comment. I just dropped them without a trace. I don't even know their titles anymore.
So...
If you like to read only fluffy stories, DON'T READ MY WORKS. If you like monotonous non-climaxing stories, DON'T READ MY WORKS. If you don't like to read angst, suspense or emotional scenes, DON'T READ MY WORKS. If you don't like thought provoking stories, DON'T READ MY WORKS.
You are not my target audience, so you will definitely not enjoy my works.

Moving on to the last great divide, I find it amusing that you can easily see which are my loyal readers and which are not, solely with their comments. My loyal readers are the ones who were cool with the cliffhanger while those reacted explosively clearly are on the opposite end.
My loyal readers saw through my ploy. As I have established a set of tenets when designing a book cover.

The four books above have a common theme. One or both ForthBeam dies in the story. This is explicitly expressed as I used a crimson color in the book cover. A fair warning was also provided in their individual Author's Notes in the first page of each book.
Seeing that the cover of this book has no crimson color, it's safe to say that Forth nor Beam will not die.
Funny, there was this comment in the last chapter saying that "Beam better not be dead". Honey, I am notorious among my fanfic peers in killing off ForthBeam. My 1st masterpiece in Wattpad, an original story I adapted from my own short story features a narrative where Beam dies. But contrary to your narrowminded view, that fic has unsurpassed universal praise among its readers.
