Author's Note: I had other ideas for this AU, believe me, I did, but I ended up either not doing them or not liking them. This story is the only survivor.
The basic premise of this AU is that a bunch of pillagers were infected with a strong AI that made it so that they could rebel against the hermits and other players.
Eventually, this led to a bunch of the hermits running, getting captured, or even going into hiding. I don't quite remember everything with this AU, but I do know that the oneshots would've eventually led into an actual story.
Anyways, I wrote this a long while ago, so I had to do a bit of editing on it...
I know that I have the actual idea written as a random idea somewhere. I just don't remember where.
Enjoy.

Rik's POV:
How do things happen?
The game was now normal, no alternate future selves, no bad guys trying to kill us, no end of the world situations, no angry mobs of people, no curses, none of that.
Now, now this brings me to today.
I was against the wall with a rope around my throat. Ash and Jasmine were on either side of me. My whole body ached as I forced my sharp claws back.
Don't turn now.
Don't turn now.
I looked towards Ash as I tried to calm myself down and think clearly. I frowned as I stared at Ash's vacant expression.
Eventually, Ash would begin to cough, " Ash?" I whispered as Ash finished coughing, " R-Rik?" he questioned as he glanced down at me.
He looked drained, almost lifeless, as he slowly moved his hand to my shoulder; Ash's hand was incredibly pale and shaky.
" Ash, where's Price?" I questioned as Ash looked away; tears pricked the corners of his eyes. The hybrid's ears went float against his head as he softly whimpered. Ash tried to move away from me, but his body was too restrained to do so.
I turned my head fully towards him as Ash tried to get the tears out of his eyes.
I cleared my throat, " Ashley..." I leaned my head closer to his, " Where's Price?" I questioned again. Wet tears ran down Ash's face as he quietly gasped. Ash's body soon started to shake as he slowly put his head against my shoulder.
It was the best that he could manage, and he was okay with that.
I wish I could hug him.
" They.... t-took... him." Ash spoke in a weak voice. I reached my chained hand up and cupped Ash's head. The hybrid was whimpering as he nuzzled tiredly against me. My whole body was burning until the door of our prison cell clicked.
In one swift movement, Price's limp, slightly mangled, body was harshly tossed into the grey room like a ragdoll. Price let out a strained, weak squeak as his whole body started to change. Ash and I watched silently as our friend morphed into a small pig that sprawled out on the ground.
I looked up as a strange creature walked into the room; the creature's eyes were narrowed as it started to mess around with its pockets. If I remember what Xisumavoid told me, then this thing was called a Pillager.
Honestly, The four of us had never really encountered these guys nor their passive counterparts. We mainly played in a modded version of Minecraft.
