It was drawing towards the end of our Herbiology lesson, the last lesson of the day. My previous excitement at finally being able to talk to Oliver had now turned into a serious case of nerves. I kept going over possible conversation topics in my head, but all seemed to end up going into awkward silence, or asking questions that were ridiculously inappropriate. My breaths were deep and I knotted and unknotted my fingers repeatedly trying to release my nervous energy. Harry must have been watching my actions, because a moment later his hand moved backwards to hold mine still. I looked to him only to find his eyes facing forward, still looking at our lecturing teacher.
"Thank you." I whispered, relaxing at his touch. It was a strange quality that he had, when ever he was close or had contact with me, I instantly relaxed. As though his touch flicked a switch in my head to instantly send me floating on air. Well maybe that was a little bit of an exaggeration. I managed to stay twitch free for the remaining ten minutes, but as soon as we were dismissed it began all over again. Hermione walked next to me, while the boys fooled around behind us.
"What has you so jumpy?" She chuckled, flicking her wind blown hair out of her face.
"I'm meeting Oliver tonight." I confessed, hoping that saying it would calm me. It didn't.
"Oh? Where?" She interrogated, suddenly intrigued.
"The barn." I bit down on my bottom lip, drumming my fingers on my Herbiology book, which I clutched to me. She raised her eyebrow quirkily.
"The barn?"
"Yes"
"Where you lived in the summer?"
"Yes."
"Where your private bedroom is?" My eyes widened, I had not thought of that and I squeaked. Oh no! Thank you very much, Hermione. She laughed, her curled hair flicking back and forth as she bent double with her laughter and then stood back upright.
"Glad you find this funny." I huffed, annoyed by her unhelpful nature.
"Oh come on, Anna. I'm sure you'll be fine. I mean its Oliver, you've known him for ages." Huh...she's right. I have known Oliver for ages and we had been alone together before, why should I be nervous now?
"Thank s Hermione." I smiled, before curving off in the direction of the barn, I had already been there this morning to put Grace in the paddock and do all her jobs. So I simply went into the kitchen and made myself a cup of tea.
Just as I was taking the first sip I heard a call from the stable.
"Anna?" I swallowed the hot liquid quickly and smiled.
"In here!" A few moment later the tall fifth year appeared in the doorway, his bag slung over his shoulder stuffed with sheets of paper. I laughed,
"Nothing like organisation." I grinned gesturing to his bag and he chuckled.
"Yeah I guess I can have things in perfect order on a Quidditch pitch, but a bag...is totally beyond my skills." I giggled, holding the hot mug in my hands as I lent upon the worktop.
"Do you want a cup of tea?" I asked polietly.
"No I'm alright, Anna." I watched as he looked over the small kitchen, with the tiny dining set.
"So this is where you lived?" I nodded.
"Yep, just me and Grace." I looked from the stone of the wall, the red refrigerator and old oven.
"It's small, but its cozy." I looked back to him and his eyes bore into mine.
"Did you not get lonely?" I thought for a moment, memories of being sat late at night simply day dreaming.
