Part fourteen

Evie's POV

December

I slowly opened my eyes and adjusted to the light in the room. I slowly got up and rubbed my eyes. I yawned and walked to the boys room, I saw them sleeping and walked into the bathroom. I took a shower and went to the toilet before drying my body.

I got dressed into a pair of blue jeans, a white top and I tied my dads old army jacket around my waist. I then dried my hair with the towel and put it in a low pony tail. When I walked out my room I saw ashton awake. I smiled and got him dressed into a long green top and blue jeans.

I then woke Bucky up and got him in a pair of grey shorts and a blue t-shirt.

I made eggs for the boys and placed it in front of the. As I grabbed myself some.

After we ate we all brushed our teeth and put our shoes on. I placed the boys in the car and started driving.

As I was driving I looked at the engagement ring on my finger. I sighed.

I pulled into the cafe and got out. I put the apron on and let the boys play at one of the tables. We had multiple people come in.

After a very long shift I finally got home with the boys. I checked the Calendar and saw it was my birthday. I laughed and put hulk on for the boys to watch. I then went upstairs and walked into my room.

I stopped when I saw a box on my bed. I opened it revealing a gang jacket and a dress. On top was a note.

Evie,
Happy birthday honey, we all miss you so much.
Why don't you come by the house for your birthday party? 19 is pretty big.
Put these on and bring the boys!

I smiled and put the short black dress on. I then put the jacket over the top and looked in the bathroom mirror. I loved it.

I then walked downstairs.

"Boys! We are going to a party for my birthday!" I said smiling at them.

"A party!? Wait. It's your birthday?" Ashton asked. I nodded and put my heeled boots on. Ashton quickly got his shoes on as I picked bucky up. We walked out of the house and down the street to the gang house.

As soon as I walked in everyone cheered. I smiled and went around smiling and introducing the boys to everyone.

I was sat down in the front garden on the steps watching the boys play whilst drinking a bottle of beer. Out of nowhere Indra came and sat next to me.

"Hi hun, how you doing?" She asked. "I'm doing good." I said not taking my eyes off the boys.

"You did a great job raising them." She nodded to the boys. I smiled and thanked her.

After a while of talking a car pulled up. My eyes widened as I saw Leo step out of the car. I quickly ran up to him.

"You can't be here! They will kill you!" I whisper shouted. "Fine I'm going back to yours! You better be there in the next ten minutes. We have a lot to talk about!" He whisper shouted back getting into his car.

I thanked everyone and said bye before walking with the boys. Once I got inside I sent Ashton upstairs with Bucky to get ready for bed.

I then grabbed a beer from the fridge and sat opposite Leo at the dinner table.

"First if all, what the fuck are you wearing?" He asked. "It's my birthday, I was invited to a party. And this was my dads old jacket." I said. "It's related to the gang!" "No shit" he let out a frustrated sigh.

"Second, what the fuck were you thinking taking the boys to a gang house!?" He said angrily.

"Oh please! That's none of your business!" "They are bad people Evie!"

"Don't you dare! They are family, they would never hurt the boys. Plus, the mafia is worse, right?" I said tilting my head to the side.

"Don't do it again, do you hear me?" I did nothing. "Do you understand!" He shouted. I flinched and slowly nodded my head.

"Good, now. Happy birthday." He said handing me a small box.

I opened it revealing a blue necklace in the shape of a heart. I smiled up at him.

"It's beautiful, thank you" "your welcome."

"That isn't the only reason I'm here." I nodded. "My dad wants us to get married soon." "How soon is soon?" I asked.

"Between Christmas and New Years." He said. "Shit that's closer than I thought." I said. He nodded. "You are ok with marrying me, right?" He asked. "Of course I am!" I said smiling at him.

I'm not sure about this, I have an uneasy feeling in my stomach.

He nodded and kissed my head. "Ill come by tomorrow to help with wedding planning Yeah?" I nodded. "Goodnight Evie" "Goodnight Leo" he walked out of the house. I locked it behind him and walked upstairs.

I checked on the boys and gave both of them a kiss before exiting the room. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I then got into one of my dads shirts and lied in bed.

He might have been a horrible father, but he was a good person. He never showed love or affection which hurt me the most. But what he did only made me stronger, smarter and I was ready for the world at a young age.

I looked out for myself because I didn't have parents to do it for me.

I was my own parent, I don't want either boys to go through that.

I might hate him but I still loved him. He was funny at times. And on That one Christmas he showed that he could be a better man. Well, before he tried killing himself.

I felt tears roll down my cheeks as I just lied there letting my thoughts consume my brain.
