Yo's tired smile turned into a smirk when he saw Ming and Kit already sitting at one of the many tables in the cafeteria of the compound. Kit's claiming bite was not hidden at all, clearly seen above the collar of his over-sized, borrowed t-shirt. It seemed Ming and Pha were of the same mind in wanting everyone to know Kit and Yo were taken, and to back off.

"Why would any wolf take a cat for a mate..."

"I don't understand, were they too fertile to resist?"

"Looks and fertility don't matter, they aren't wolves!"

Yo pressed into Pha's side, uncomfortable with the whispered arguments and unwelcoming stares from the majority of the pack. Pha glowered at the pack, frightening them into shutting up and looking away. He wasn't about to let them scare his mate.

"Someone looks happy," Ming commented as Yo took the seat next to him. "Have a good night?"

"After P'Pha caught me, yes," Yo smirked. He gave his mate a grateful smile when Pha spooned some scrambled eggs on his plate.

Ming coughed to disguise a laugh. "If Kit had known the layout of the land better, I'd probably still be chasing him down."

Yo giggled, giving Kit a thumbs up. "How long did you make him chase you, P'Kit?"

"About forty minutes or so. Ended up running right into him because I got turned around. All the trees and paths look the same!"

"...you could've sniffed the air to see where Ming was."

"I'm not used to my senses being so powerful, Yo," Kit mumbled. "I know it's been four months, but...a part of me is still struggling to accept that I'm an omega."

Ming pulled Kit into his lap to hug him. Hearing that his precious mate couldn't accept himself just yet made him sad. "KitKat, I would've chased you no matter what you are, alpha, beta, or omega. I love you."

Kit ducked his head to hide his blush. "Sap."

"Yes, but I'm your sap," Ming chuckled and kissed his mate's cheek.

"Dad says he wants to have lunch with us sometime next week," Yo told Pha after swallowing a bite of bacon.

"What day?"

"Whichever day works for you. He'll clear his schedule for us."

Kit drooped as he listened to the two talk about meeting Yo's dad. He poked his fork at his food, not hungry anymore. What were his parents going to say? He'd let Ming claim him without ever saying a thing to them. They'd be so hurt at Kit hiding this from him, and angry that he'd mated outside their species, and even angrier he'd mated with another male. What was he going to do?

Ming was worried. Kit was too quiet and withdrawn, staring at his plate with a blank expression. "Kit-"

"My parents are going to murder me for hiding this," Kit whimpered softly, burying his face in his hands.

"Wait...you still haven't told them?" Ming had an odd expression.

"I was spending all my time with you! When was I supposed to say anything??"

"I don't know, maybe send them a text or give them a quick call? Why didn't you tell them we were claiming each other??" Ming rested his elbow on the table, chin in his palm. Great. I basically stole their son. They're gonna kill me.

"Because I'm a coward, okay??!" Kit burst out. He stood up fast enough, his chair fell over behind him. His fists were shaking at his sides. "I didn't want to tell them I was mating outside our species and to another guy! They would've been so disgusted with me and disowned me! Is that what you want to hear, Ming??" his voice caught on a small sob, and he turned and bolted out the door.
