A/N: alright kiddies, get ready to have your hearts ripped out of your chests.

Muffled screams and yells. That's all you heard.

The pain you felt in your chest was excruciating. You could barely breathe.

It took almost all of your energy to keep your eyes open, to keep your lungs moving, to keep your heart pumping.

The ringing in your ears was blaring.

As you laid on the rubble beneath you, you could see fuzzy images of troopers standing over you, but you couldn't make out who was who. All the white of their helmets blurred together.

Your saliva tasted metallic-y, bitter almost.

You slowly turned your head to the side, begging your eyes to focus, and as they did slightly, you saw a soldier in black running towards you. Skidding on the rocks beside you to a stop, he didn't even have to rip his helmet off for you to know who it was.

It was Hunter.

***

Hunter wasn't even in the same battle as you when he heard your screams pierce the air around him.

He was only a short distance away but was fighting a completely different set of droids alongside his brothers.

Hunter had been reluctant to let you join the fight on Kaller. He knew it was bad out there and he didn't want you to get caught up in it, although you were more than capable.

The war was so close to being over, and then you could finally leave your Jedi life behind, abandon your duties to the Republic and join Hunter and adventure the galaxy together, just like you had always planned.

The love the two of you had for one another was unparalleled. It was pure in every form and sincere in every way.

When he had met you, he felt whole. You completed him, just as he completed you.

When you had asked Hunter and the Bad Batch to join your fight on Kaller, he wanted to say no. He truly did. He could already sense things would go wrong. And when he heard your screams, that blood-curdling scream that would haunt him till the end of time, he knew he had been right.

***

When he had heard you, he sprinted off and ran as he had never run before.

Adrenaline and fear were coursing through his veins.

He hoped he had imagined your screams and that you were actually in no danger.

When he had run off, mid-fight, his four brothers could sense something was wrong.

Hunter never stopped a fight.

They all ran after him, abandoning the droids they had taken on. They weren't sure who Hunter was running to, but they had a hunch. And that was more important than any droid fight.

As Hunter came to the clearing, he could see you lying face up, unmoving, but he could sense you holding onto dear life.

Spike, your clone commander, had been the soldier standing over you, but your vision was so fuzzy you had no clue.

Spike seeing Hunter barreling towards you, stepped back, knowing it was more important your lover be at your side at this moment and not your commander.

Once coming to a stop at your side, Hunter ripped his helmet off, his brothers stopping a little behind him, their breaths hitching in their throats when they saw the state you were in.
