E.

The ringing on the door breaks me
from a familiar daze.

Walking towards it I straighten my shirt as I accept the door open, my eyes meeting with an old friend, an old partner.

Infront of me stood Adam, Seira by his side.

"Welcome." I greet a warm smile on my lips reflecting his.

"Pumpkin!" He yells coming closer to hug me and I groan at the old name.

"Again?!" I chuckle welcoming Seira with an equally warm hug.

"Come on in." I open the door wider for them to walk in, genueiy happy to see him again after all this time apart.

After coming back from Britain, Adam got an internship in Spain that had him leaving only three months after I was back in Canada. Which he came back from only a couple months ago, by his side a Sierra, one he complained about his feelings for to me about everyday.

I watched their relationship grow from good friends to engaged in only three years. You may say it's too early but..love knows no time.

Sitting by him, joking and remembering things it felt so good to be by a childhood friend, one that held so many memories. Some are ones that weren't the best, barely filled with happiness, however he didn't have to know what he caused.

I watch as he plays with Xander, laughing with him, attempting to make a good relationship with my son. Though Xander didn't show much enthusiasm back, I could tell he liked this amount of attention on only him.

I watch as Seira looked at him lovingly, a faint smile on her lips, her eyes glinting with want. I could tell she wanted this with him, a child, a family.

Exactly what I wanted, what I craved. My own little family, however life doesn't always work the way you want it to.

"I must say, you have a bright child. You and the father are lucky." Siera tells me her eyes still on them.

"Yeah..we are."

"Where is he right now? Working?" She innocently wonders, my stomach tightening at the questions everyone innocently threw, ones that however didn't innocently corrupt my feelings.

"He isn't present in our life's." I offer a tight smile, reminding myself that this was the first time we sit together hal one without an occasion to talk.

"Oh...I'm sorry for bringing it up."

"Don't worry about it. We're doing just fine without him, now you know." I chuckle at her troubled face.

We spend the rest of our hour laughing together, Xander included. Talking about old topics, recalling things, mentioning anything that comes across our tongue.

Feeling the hint of familiarity flow through me making me feel happier than ever, something that felt like home, something I was used to.

Not long after they were already leaving, tight hugs exchanged and empty promises to see one another soon.

I watch as the clock turns 10, yes they busted in here at 8 am but they couldn't come any other time, or that's what they said.

"Cmon baby, school time." I call out for Xander who was engrossed in his new toys.

"Audust?!" He looks up excitement filling his eyes in the most adorable way.

My throat runs dry, my heart picking up it's pace as per usual whenever he mentioned him. The worry of August knowing, the action he will take against me...for hiding his son away for three years.
