Ahsoka reached the barracks, already running through her apology. She never wanted to end on any bad terms with Rex, especially since he had just proposed. Fights were supposed to be long ways in the future.
She walked in to find that the barracks were mostly empty, except for a few clones here and there. She assumed that most of them were in the mess or training, but still checked the bunks to be sure.
To her luck, Rex was chatting with Tup and they were alone. She felt bad intruding seeing that he was busy so she turned to leave, but not before he caught sight of her.
" Ahsoka!" Rex called to her, making her stop. He ran over to her, waving bye to Tup as he left for the mess.
" Sorry, I didn't want to interrupt. I can come back another time."
Rex cleared his throat. " Uh, no it's fine. I was about to go and try to find you anyways."
Ahsoka tilted her head. " Really. Why?"
Rex led her over to one of the functional bunks, gesturing for her to sit down.
" So, I was thinking about what you said," he watched as Ahsoka raised an eye marking. " And I changed my mind about the whole force thing."
" What do you mean, ' changed your mind.'?"
Rex sat down next to her. " I'm saying that I want you to teach me some of the basics on how to you know..." he waved his hands around, mimicking the movement that he's seen the Jedi make, earning a snort from the Togruta.
" I'm glad that you want to learn, but I was looking for you to say that I understand your hesitation with all of this and that you shouldn't feel pressured to learn it if you don't want to. I know your brothers are very important to you and I don't want this to change anything between you and them." Ahsoka wanted to be sure that he wasn't just saying all this to please her.
" I thought about that and came to a realization that it shouldn't matter. Tup was actually the one to convince me. Yes they're my vods and being force sensitive doesn't change that."
" I'm happy for you, Rex. Your brothers are really amazing." she smiled, pulling her fiance into a hug.
" Eh hem." Rex looked behind him and saw Jesse standing with his arms crossed, leaning against the door frame. " Am I interrupting something?"
" What do you need Jess?" Ahsoka asked kindly.
" You both are needed in the mess hall." he said, instantly turning back the way he came.
Rex and Ahsoka looked at each other with confused faces.
" Guess we better check it out. I swear if it's a prank, I'll have every one of them cleaning the barracks for a month straight." Rex grumbled, remembering the last time he had to bring out that severe punishment.
Ahsoka slapped his shoulder, " Don't do that. I'm sure it's just another food fight or something."
" Yeah, that's not any better."
When the door to the mess swished opened, the lights were all turned off and it was completely silent.
" Fives, if you're tryin' to pull another one over us, it's not gonna work." Rex called out into the room, but was met with no response.
" Hello?"
" SURPRISE!" an army of voices shouted, the lights flickering back on to reveal every remaining clone from the 501st and 212th. The tables were filled with food, which weren't rations along bottles of beer.
Ahsoka's face lit up. She was smiling so hard that it hurt. On the far end of the mess was a sign that read, ' Congrats Captain and Commander' in big letters.
" Gotcha Captain." Fives greeted, clasping Rex's hand.
" When did you all have time to do this?"
Cody stepped forward, " While you were stuck working, your legion surprisingly, but impressively organized all this in less than two hours."
" Fives, this is amazing. Thank you so much for doing this." Ahsoka gave him a side hug before going off to talk to the other clones.
" I have to admit it, Fives, I wasn't expecting this." Rex smirked, punching his brother lightly in the arm.
" You know, I can be nice when I wanna." the ARC retorted.
" Hey Fives, we ran out of plates!" someone yelled from across the room.
Fives groaned, " I'll be right back. By the way, I think the generals, senator and duchess should be here soon." he yelled, running out the door.
" Where's he going?" Jesse asked as he handed Rex a bottle.
" To get plates. I can go with him though, knowing he'll probably end up in some kind of trouble." the blonde man rolled his eyes.
Jesse shook his head, " No, you stay. I'll go with him. Enjoy your party Captain."
" Yeah, Rex. Relax for once." Cody agreed
Rex couldn't say no to them, or it wasn't like he had a choice to.
" You're right. I'm gonna go over with Ahsoka. Again, thanks for all of this." he said.
Cody and him joined the others while Jesse ran after Fives.
Fives handed over a few credits and exited the store. He was glad that there was one not too far from where they were staying. It made running errands a whole lot easier.
" Fives!"
Jesse strolled over to him. " I guess you don't need a babysitter after all." he joked.
Fives huffed. " I'm responsible, don't see why everyone thinks I'm not."
" Heh, well maybe if you quit acting like a di'kut most of the time then people would start to believe that."
" Shut up Jess. Anyways, I got the plates. Let's hurry up so we don't miss anything."
A shot rang through the streets, barely missing Jesse's head as he heard it wiz by.
" Take cover!" he yelled to Fives.
" Sniper!" The ARC said pointing to the roof where there was a person wearing a cloak.
Fives nodded to Jesse as he took out his pistol, aiming at the shooter from behind a dumpster. He fired one hell of a shot. It looked like it had hit the person's hand.
" Nice Jesse."
The person dropped something before taking off, disappearing into the city.
