I didn't manage to say anything else, but I was very happy (even if the room was, to me, quite bright) that I could see my fosters. I remembered all the things they had said to me, and thought with a smile, my family

Aurora was sleeping, of course. It amazed me that she could sleep, even after I'd just woken up; but then, singing did always put her to sleep, and she'd just been sung to by everybody, including me.

"Sophie," breathed Dylan, reaching a hand out to touch me like I wasn't real. "You don't know how many times I've...Sophie, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean anything I said..."

I nodded and made a hand gesture, pointing to my ear. Dylan turned a brilliant red as he slowly realized what I meant. "You...you heard everything?" he said. "Shit, I mean, shoot, I mean, fuck," he swore.

I glared at him and gestured at Evie, who nodded at me and said sternly to Dylan, "Language. Although honestly, Soph, I'm with Dylan on this one. You heard everything?"

Dylan cracked a small smile and I zipped my lips, motioning that I wouldn't tell anyone their secrets.

It was tiring, though, especially since I hadn't moved anything since the day of the car accident. I supposed Ethan still didn't know he was the cause of all of this...Ethan. I needed to make sure somebody knew.

I grabbed Evie's phone and then texted Dylan.

"Hold up...Tanya's pregnant? She's getting an abortion? And it's Ethan's baby?" groaned Dylan.

"What?" Evie stared at me, then Dylan, then me again. Then she grabbed her phone back and read the text message I'd sent. "I refuse to be an aunt to somebody Tanya birthed. And what about women's choice, and all that?"

"Yeah," Dylan said, "but Tanya hasn't even discussed this with Ethan. He deserves a say in it, too. He doesn't even know she's pregnant." That, too, had been in my text message.

"Ugh, I'll go and give Ethan the news. Dylan, you and Aurora stay with Sophie, make sure Tanya doesn't get in here again. Dads, I thought you got a restraining order!" cried Evie.

"We did!" protested Edward. "How did she even get in here?"

"Yes, we did, and now we need to report Tanya's breach of it," put in Doug, already dialing the police's phone number.

After Doug and Edward left, Dylan put Aurora in his lap and sighed, staring at me. "You have no idea how worried I was," he whispered. "No idea."

I glanced at Aurora and mimed zipping my lips, hoping he'd get the message.

"What, I didn't use any swear - oh, you're warning me not to use any swear words," Dylan said, relieved. "Got it. We need to get you, like, a notepad, or something." There as a heavy pause, as Dylan bit his lip. "Did you - did you mean it?"

Did I mean what? What had I done, after shoving Ethan into the backseat? I looked at Dylan, confused, and Dylan sighed.

"Of course you don't remember. You called me, before you called 911, and you told me you loved me. And then you hung up, and the semi hit you," Dylan sighed. "It's okay. It's fine."

I wanted to reach out for his hand, but my upper body muscles were too sore, and my lower body muscles...my eyes widened as I realized something. How had I not realized this until just now? I looked at Dylan, panicked. He quickly got out his iPhone, and opened up Notes, so I could type what I wanted to say.

I can't feel my legs, I typed.

"You...what do you mean? Don't they hurt, or something?" Dylan questioned.
