The nerves that were settled in your chest before were now dissipating slowly as the hours continue to pass during your first day at your new job.

You were still a human being with emotions, you were just good at hiding them which, from the outside, makes it look like you were incapable of feeling anything. It was a trait you had that was proven useful in many situations. And you can admit that it was now a habit that formed into a regular.

You and Tom were seated inside his office, discussing everything that was necessary for you. Harrison was currently being his number two at the moment and after Tom leaves you alone, Harrison will slowly step down from Tom's spot as he will keep a close eye on your performance and adaptation.

Right now, he was taking the calls for Tom and handling his usual whilst Tom took the time to speak to you. The information Tom shared was quite extensive but you had no issues with understanding them as you expected somewhat of the similarities from your last job, considering you were also a CEO. But because this wasn't a sales company, it was slightly different.

You suddenly found yourself comparing his methods to yours since you were a CEO and something you found interesting was his strictness. He was very very bossy compared to you and he rarely made any personal choice of connections at this company. It's not a bad thing but you wondered how he coped with it, since it must feel somewhat lonely. But right now, personal matter isn't important at this very moment as you were only new.

He seated you with him beside his desk as he showed you the work load from the previous secretary. Apparently the previous employee found a completely new job that was not in line of his current career and immediately followed that passion. Tom was quite upset with him as he didn't even give a written notice but a phone call the week he left. Tom was pretty satisfied of his work and skills but just not too happy about how quickly he had abandoned the position without notice.

You never usually felt anything intimate or tight-knit when it came to social interactions but with Tom, you discovered a part of yourself that you didn't know you were capable of. And maybe it was a small tiny crush on your new boss but you brushed it away as you were completely oblivious to your hidden feelings. It wasn't that big of a deal though, just a small crush you had. Which rarely occurs but anwyays..

You just couldn't help but feel a little flustered when his arm kept landing behind your chair and the way he would lean down towards you a little as he showed you more documents. You haven't been bossed around like this in a while and it was an experience you never thought you'd undergo again but here you are now. Tom was obviously unaware of his actions that would seem a little too close to your boundaries but you kept a steady posture to not alarm him of his clueless doings.

Eventually lunch rolled around and this time he let you go for a moment to take a break.

He really just wanted to eat his lunch alone. Like he mostly does. He doesn't hang out with the staff but he does make small talk here and there when he feels it'll be awkward if he doesn't act upon it. You forgot to pack lunch that day so you decided to visit the cafeteria alongside Harrison to show you around. The break room was around the corner but decided against it for the day. You wanted to get used to everything as quick as you can.

You could tell the both of you are gonna make quite a duo, he was good to be around. Every conversation you've shared had a connection and it never felt awkward or uneasy to speak to him.

"Can I hold on to your USB for a little longer?" Harrison asked as he took his last bite out of his sandwich.

"Why?" You weren't going to say no but you were curious.

"Your stuff is really good and I want to see all of them. If your okay with that ofcourse"

"Yea, sure. But just don't share it to anyone else other than Tom, please"

"Yea, ofcourse"

You were quite impressed with the cafeteria. It was large with two floors and a centre view. You and Harrison were on the first level near the food as he explained each thing on the menu as best as he can. The menu was actually quite decent as it provided various meals and prepared options for people. The smoothie you opted for wasn't quite a budget but still met with your satisfaction. You were really liking this place already. But you were going to hold off on that positive feel to not disappointment yourself when an unpleasant situation occurs. You hoped it wouldn't happen, but if it would, then you would be prepared by simply not expecting anything. Or maybe you were really just expecting disappointment.

Although you haven't met anyone other than Tom, Harrison, Harry and the receptionist, you saw alot of bright, positive faces and that was already spreading on to you slowly. But who knows what could happen. Everything has flaws, but right now you were trying to focus on the good and let the negativity roll out how it wants to.

"Anyway, How's it going with Tom?" Harrison asked with a smile.

"Yea, he's alright, a bit stiff though" You almost chuckled.

"Yea, that's just him but there's more, you know," You gave him a look to continue. "I'm one of his forever mates and he's hasn't always been like that; all cold and closed off,"

His expressions changed and you felt bad although you did nothing. The crease in his eyebrows and his eyes not meeting yours, were telling you that he was thinking about something specific.

"Ever since he and his dad-"

"Miss L/n, lunch is over" Tom came out of nowhere and it almost made you loose composure as you were listening to Harrison intently.

Once you stood up, you noticed Tom leaning over to Harrison slightly, muttering a small growl at him that you couldn't identify.

Tom gave you a glance and began walking away towards the direction of his office. That stone hard stare felt cold and you weren't afraid but more intimated as he rarely put out any emotion other than a fake smile. You gave Harrison a sympathetic smile as he waved it off casually. You thanked him silently for throwing out your smoothie cup for you and continued to follow Tom to the elevator.

As you followed Tom on his trail, you couldn't help but study him. Specifically, his physical presence. He only had his white dress shirt on and his muscles were still able to show through it. His hair was neatly styled and his jaw was defined nicely. His height was quite shorter to other men but his confidence and the way he holds himself definitely overpowered the height of others. His power was insane. Ofcourse he had power because of his position but there was something about his aura that just screamed something so loud but so silent at the same time.

He was such a mystery.
