( 2 days before Cormac leaves)

Cormac's POV:
Today I'm taking Meredith to a shooting range. I know Meredith never liked guns but in this case she needs to have one. I'm taking her to see which gun suits her best. Ever since last night I've been teaching her how to defend herself. We finally pull up to the shooting range and get inside. We gave them our I.D to check us out. They let us in the range and we picked out a 9 millimeter to try out first. We got the headphones to cover our ears and I taught Meredith how to stand and aim the gun. When she finally shot it she hit right in the chest of a dummy. " I like it but I don't think this is the one for me." She said and handed me the gun to try out another one. She grabbed a mossberg 500. She then started to shoot it. " This one is way to big for me." She said and put it away. She then picked out a glock 17. It  fit perfectly in her hands. She shot it and I could tell this was the one. " This is the one that I need." She said. We then walked out, got a background check and they let us buy the gun. We then went to go get some lunch. We went to Panera bread and I got a Sandwhich while she got a grilled cheese. We hurried up and ate and went home. Meredith put the gun in the back of the closet where none of the kids could reach and she locked the closet door. We sat on her bed in silence. " How long do I have to be on the run?" She asks breaking the silence. " Hopefully not to long." I tell her. " I already said goodbye to everyone, so I guess I don't need to worry about that." She said. " What about Marina and Evelyn?" I ask. " We'll see each other again." She said. " I'm so sorry for this." I tell her. " It's okay." She said and kissed me.

Meredith's POV:
" Guys have you finished packing?!" I ask the children. " Yes!" They all said at the same time. I don't want Cormac to go. It's like he expects me to just leave him to his family. They are going to make him do god knows what. He's been training me and helping me. He got a family friend of his to help us run. He says he trusts him but I got to see for myself. " Hey" Cormac says and gives me a kiss on the cheek. " Hey" I say and sit on the bed and start to go on my phone. I then see him hand me a flip phone. " What?" I ask. " It's a burner phone and it'll be harder for them to try and track you so here." He says and I grab it. " It has my number in it but we won't be able to talk much" he says. He then sits down and looks in my eyes. " It's okay if you move on without me." He tells me. " I don't want to" I respond kissing him. " This is what we'll do so in the end we can be together." I tell him.

( Day Cormac leaves)

Meredith's POV:
Cormac has his plan that me and the kids need to follow. Cormac is currently saying goodbye to his kids right now. He comes down the stairs and we go to the car. We both agreed I would drop him off so I can go make sure he's okay. We get in the car and meet at a bridge. We park there and wait for them to show up. " Cor, I want you to stay." I admit. " I know but this is the only way to make sure you're okay." He tells me. " I love you" I tell him. " I love you too." He replies and we kiss. We both see a big black SUV pull up and I know it's his family. We both get out of the car. A guy I'm assuming to be his brother got out of the car with a gun pointed at both of us. " She's just here to drop me off" Cormac says. I look at him and kiss him. " Go remember the plan" he whispered on my ear. " Mhm" I say. I then turned around to walk away. I didn't want to. I had my back facing him. I let a few tears stream down my cheeks. It's like all the memories of us was coming in flashbacks very quickly flooding my mind. I knew I had to pull myself together and go. I couldn't look back at Cormac or I would never leave. I then just walked toward not looking back. I got in my car and drove away in tears. He can't stay.
