Cormac's POV:
It's been 3 days since I broke up with Meredith. It's been hell. I can't even look at her. I've seen her in the hallways but there's something different about her. She's not mad at me. She looked heartbroken. She can't even look at me. It feel like I broke her. I never wanted to be the one to do that. I love her. But because i love her i need to protect her. I was in my office finishing up some paperwork until I got a call.
- What? I ask.

- I need you to listen to me. They reply.

-No I'm done listening to you! You ruined everything! My relationship with my girlfriend, you made me break up with her and now I have to see her everyday without being able to kiss her or hold her. Go fuck yourself! I yell and hung up.

I then look up and see Meredith looking at me in shock. " Meredith" I say.

Meredith's POV:
I heard everything. I was on my way to talk to cormac. But i heard him on the phone. I close the door and lock it. " Why did you lie to me?" I ask. " Meredith it's more complicated than that." He tries to reason with me. "Just answer the goddamn question!" I yell. " Okay but you need to stay and try to understand everything." He says. We sit on the couch and he begins to tell me.

Cormac's POV:

Flashback: Cormac's 17 and his name is Joe

"Joe i need you to go and talk to Jessie about our deal" My father raid. " Dad how many times do I have to tell you I'm not doing that" I reply. " Son! You will. We have to get across the border. Your brother is the only one to do that. I don't care if you have to kill for it. Do it now boy!" He yells. His family was apart of a cartel. Luckily for him they let him go to school and will let him in college. They have took many lives of the innocent just to get what they want. Cormac never agreed with it. He hated it. That night instead of going to his brother he finally decided to leave and change everything about him. He was on the run ever since he was 17. He changed his name and went to college and med school and became a surgeon. He wanted to help people not kill. Until they found him about a week ago and sending threats if he didn't come and join them again they would kill Meredith. He had to do as they said.

Meredith's POV:

Present time:

It all makes sense now. Why he never talked about his family. It was horrible. " Cor I'm so sorry for what happened." I say and look at him. " So you didn't meet someone else?" I ask. " Of course not. I would never." He says while looking at me. " What do we do?" I ask. " Meredith I'm dangerous for you, and not just you, your kids, my kids. I have to leave." He says. " No. We will get through this together." I tell him. I look deep into his eyes and we both lean in for a passionate kiss. I then got paged. " I gotta go" I said and kissed him one more time before leaving. As I was walking away I felt a pair of arms grab me from behind and take me to the staircase. " You better come with me now or I'll kill everyone you love" the person said and put a knife to my throat. I look at them and can immediately tell it was a family member of cormac. They look like him around the eyes. I carefully follow them dropping my bracelet cormac gave me. I hope he gets it.
