Chapter 46

I was in the middle of the store while eyeing a pair of pj's for Zoella. Its cute design immediately caught my attention. Hinila ko pa si Ali papasok sa store and he just let me.

"You wanna buy that?" he asked.

"Bagay kaya? Or about the size, baka malaki sa kaniya," sagot ko na nagdadalawang-isip.

"How about you ask your mom about Zoella's current size?"

"Oo nga 'no?" natatawa kong sabi.

I pulled my phone out and called my mom. She answered right away and gave me Zozo's size. Binili na namin kaagad ang magkapares na iyon at iilang damit pa na nakuha na namin kanina.

"How about books? Do you want to drop by the bookstore? I saw some interactive books earlier," he suggested.

"Gagawin mo bang sobrang talino ang anak ko, Dr. Marco?" I asked with a raised brow.

"It's not that. She loves books, right?"

"Yeah, she does. Pero mag-aaral na rin naman siya this coming school year," I plainly said.

"Edi hasain na lang natin yung talino niya? She's naturally smart anyway."

He brought me to a bookstore inside the mall. Siya na ang pumili ng iilang mga libro para sa anak ko. He even suggested for Zozo to start reading the dictionary! Baka mamaya maging mas matalino na kay Einstein ang anak ko.

"How about this one?" he suddenly turned to me and showed me a book.

"Science?"

"Just the basic one... and the intermediate?" he said and shrugged.

"Yung basic lang muna. Tapos next year, try na natin intermediate math and science. That kid literally digs into books. Magugulat na nga lang kami nila mommy na nagre-recite na siya ng mga gawa nina Shakespear!"

He let out a chuckle and shook his head. "Looks like I'm going to be our daughter's new best friend."

Unti-unting nawala ang ngiti sa labi ko. "Our?"

"Yeah, why? I told you months ago, right? I'm going to co-parent Zoella while we're dating."

"Paano kapag aalis ka na? Kapag naghiwalay tayo o kapag kinasal ka na sa iba?"

The thought of Zoella having a father like Ali would be nice. Pero paano naman kapag umalis na si Ali sa buhay namin? It will be very painful for her.

"Who told you that I'll marry another woman while we're dating?" he asked in a serious tone.

"B-Baka lang naman," I said and shrugged. "Six months pa lang naman tayong nagde-date."

"You know what?...." he trailed off. "I won't leave you and Zoella."

He turned his back on me and went back to searching some books for my daughter. Almost one hour din kaming nagtagal sa bookstore bago magbayad at lumabas.

"What time are they going to arrive?" Ali asked while his eyes are on the road.

"In six hours daw siguro ay makakalapag na sila," I answered while typing something on my phone.

Kunot na kunot ang noo ko habang nagtitipa ng reply para sa email na natanggap ko noong isang araw. It was from the organization and it's kind of urgent.

Anito'y umalis na sa organisasyon si Athena dahil buntis ito. Dash is on leave and Wave too. Ibinabalik nila sa akin ang grupong binuo para kay Sandro.

"Is everything okay?" ani Ali na nakatingin na pala sa akin. I didn't notice that the car stopped because of the red light.

"S-Sorry, okay lang ako. May sinasabi ka ba kanina?"
