"How about a play about the demon king?" One member suggested.

The others rejoiced at the idea. Sabnock Sabro especially taking interest in the role of the demon king.

The Battler Party is coming up. Every battler, with first years at the very least, are to participate in the event by having their own booths and little events to showcase their battler.

Currently the Demon King Battler had been brainstorming on ideas.

'A play?' You questioned to yourself.

The Demon King Battler-a Battler dedicated to everything that is Demon King. Sounds cool, but it's mainly a bunch of geeks and nerds reading books all day and theorizing anything on the Demon Kings, especially the recent royal, Delkira.

You had joined the battler awhile back. Their were many battler options to chose from, and even though you weren't particularly interested in joining one, you had no choice.
The preference to have your after school hours to yourself was strong, but every student needed to be apart of one—at the very least every first year needed to join one.

The Battler seemed pretty quiet and very relaxed. That was the leading factor that made your decision to join such a battler.

"Should we tell a story about Delkira?"

"Why don't we do one about the very first demon king?"

"We're gonna need to write out a script!"

"How long should it be?"

"How many roles should there be?"

"I am befitting of the role as demon king!"

"Let's make it a musical!"

"Ooh! Can I sketch out some costumes?"

"We still need to know how many people are gonna be in the play!"

"Who's gonna get what role?"

You looked down at the Battler Party information sheet in your hands;
Every First Years Participation is Mandatory!!

A shaky sigh left left your lips.

'Please don't make me be in the play.' You gulped.

"Thee should do the casting!" A loud voice brought you back down to reality.

"H-huh?" You jumped.

Sabnock Sabro, a fellow first year, stood looking down at you with his famous grin. He was a very big demon. Often had his large wings and large tail out. He was definitely not a shy demon in the slightest. One of the boldest, and also stupidest, demon you encountered. Who attacks a teacher on the first day of school?

"(Y/n) should do the casting!" Sabnock announced to the rest of the Battler members.

"(Y/n) should do the casting! She's really quiet and is always watching everybody! She'd give everyone the role best fitting for them!"

You stared up at him.

'Has he been watching me?'

"Sa...Sabnock.." You tapped the demons shoulder.

Said demon turned around with a hum. He had a script in hand; a rough draft. The majority of the Battler had been looking it over, finding where they can improve the script so they can make the play as best as possible.

"..um.." You fiddled with the clip board. "C..co..congratulations." You mentally slapped yourself for immediately forgetting the words you practiced in your head.

Sabnock took one look at the paper held out to him. A large smile immediately took over his face, lighting up the room.

'So bright..'

"As expected!" Sabnock showed everyone else the sheet. "I will be playing the role of demon king!"

"Congratulations Sabnock!"

"I suppose you are most fitting for the role..."

Everyone clapped and congratulated Sabnock for landing the role of Demon King for the Battler play.

You smiled lightly and began gently clapping along with everybody.

'Now to assign the rest of the roles.' You looked back to your clipboard.

Normally casting is released all at once, but hey... you aren't a professional. And besides, Sabnock is clearly the obvious choice.

That's right!

You actually got tasked to be the casting director. The best part about it? It counts as your participation!

Yourself and Sabnock-who accompanied you to voice out concerns since you felt too timid to-had asked Professor Dali a couple questions about the Battler Party, including your participation.

Which he said counts!

Which means you don't have to be in the play!

"Let us know when you're done casting. Okay, (L/n)?" The Battler president asked.

"Okay." Was the quiet reply.

"Sabnock..." You called for his attention.

"Hm?"

It was the end of after school activities. A few of the Battler members were staying overnight, to rehearse and prepare together for the big day.

"...thank you... for helping me." Your face heated up.

The blonde grinned, "Of course! It is the demons king duty to help those in need!"

You giggled.

Throughout all the casting and other preparations, Sabnock assisted you. You were far more quiet then him, and wasn't confrontational or direct like he was. So him being by your side, voicing out your concerns and announcements was a huge help for you. The two of you bonded a bit during this time. You weren't particularly close to any of the other members. So having someone to talk to was... nice.

"Goodnight." You bowed before quickly grabbing your things.

"Are thou not staying overnight?"

"N-no. Sorry! I'm going home."

You then stopped just outside the battler door and turned back around. Gulping, you stammered, "The hallways are really dark... ca-can you come with me? Please?"

The empty hallways of Babyls were frightening at night. They were large and seemingly endless. They echoed at every little noise.

Sabnock grins, "Of course!"

He was happy to get to spend some alone time with you. After all, earlier that day he had concluded that you and him would be mates!
