Sophie

I've been chilling ever since the weddings Nick and Pri had, yes, there were more than one, and so far, I've been liking it more at home than out at work or on set. Joe's been here with me, but I've always been encouraging him with some new stuff that we'll be surprising the world with.

I came up with it, and told Dani, then Priyanka. Priyanka let it slip to Nick, who took it way seriously, and told Kevin. Joe doesn't like it as much as Nick or Kevin. He doesn't think it was a great idea- I think it's brilliant. Awesome idea.

Joe out doing something, he says it's a surprise, so I guess I'm supposed to be expecting something when he comes back. I dunno.

I get a call. From Nick.

"Hello?" I say, waving enthusiastically.

"Hey, Soph!" said the usual cheery, yet boring voice of Nick from the other side of the phone. "So er- how's it been?" he asked. I shrug, "It's okay, Joe's out," I add. He doesn't want to know, I tell myself.

Nick nods, "I don't wanna erm sound... intruding, but how is he with the er- idea?"

He looked really unsure, so I smiled, "It's going to be fine," I started, seeing the look on his face. "He'll come round and realize what he's been missing. And to make you feel better-" My voice started to become mischievous, "Joe's been listening to a lot of the old Jo-Bro songs."

"Does he?" Nick piped, sounding really excited. "Well- that's great, isn't it? It means he misses it!"

I looked hesitant, "Well, only because you told him about the thing," I said. "You know, the tune you got two weeks ago." Nick's face shagged again, "Right... Well, we'll figure it out somehow, he doesn't expect me to drop it forever, does he?"

I shook my head, "Nope-" I paused, hearing Joe's voice downstairs. Nick chuckled, "I guess you've got to go," he said. I smiled, "Well, yes- but how's it going on your end?" I ask before hanging up.

Nick shrugged, "Nothing, just staying at home. Pri's gone to do some work stuff. She's got to film new Bollywood stuff." I pretended to look excited, which I will be if you don't mention Bollywood, "That's awesome! I can't wait to see some of her projects- have you seen any of them, yet?" I asked trying to hurry this up because Joe was making his way upstairs.

"No," Nick said, sounding offended. "I mean- no, I haven't. But I will, eventually."

I wrapped up the conversation and hung up before Joe opened the door. He was in his hat. I waved and put the phone next to my lap, "Hello, bubby!" I said, irritating him. He hates it when I call him that. Joe let it drop, "I have a surprise for you," he started.

I got excited, bringing my hands together and standing up.

Joe brought up three tickets, coming up to me. My jaw dropped open, "Are these tickets to that basketball game!? This evening!? Madison Square Garden!? No way," I say, taking them from a laughing Joe. I love my fiance.

I gave him a quick peck and looked at the tickets. Joe looked offended, cause to what I could tell, he was expecting the kiss to be longer. He'll let it slip.

"But- you got three, babe," I told him, sounding unsure. Joe nodded. "We- who's the third person?" I ask. Joe nodded and pointed at me as if I made a point. "About that..." he said. "I thought about inviting Jack, you know, my band mate, but he was a little busy, bonding with his family in the south pacific, so obviously not."

Something popped up in my mind, remember that Nick was alone at home doing nothing-

"Nick! We should bring Nick- he's not doing anything, he would want to come with!"

Joe stared at me. he didn't say anything at first, but I couldn't believe it, there was no way Joe hated Nick. It's his brother! I glared at him like a disapproving mother, "You WILL go to the game with Nick. I insist, even if HE doesn't want to come."

Joe stayed still, then broke into a smile, "I love you, Sophie, but that's kinda going too far." I frowned, not getting what he was trying to say.

"What I meant," he said, judging by the look on my face. "Is that I don't think we have any right to forcefully make him come with. You know what you're doing?" he said, leaning until he was about an inch close to my face. "You're forcing him to third wheel us."

I looked down, "But I WANT him to come," I muttered. "It might be more fun-"

Joe blew a raspberry, "Pur-lease! Fun? Fun? Since when has any game gotten any better because Nick was there? Huh? Will you look at how he behaves at any party? Well, unless he's drunk, maybe he'd go far being funny, but never in my life has any event, trip, or GAME has been fun with him. I didn't even enjoyed being in the ba-"

"That's e-NOUGH, Joseph!" I snapped. "Doesn't matter, he's coming along. And that's final."

I stomped out of the room, then looked back in, "I'll be dress in thirty, see you downstairs. You better ask your brother before I finish, or I'm not going to the game."

It was an empty threat, and I knew that as soon as I closed the bedroom door. But Joe was going to do it, of course. He does not hate Nick, and I can tell, because- because it's the physics of life. No one hates their brother, for heaven's sake!

I head into the closet and picked out an outfit. I decided to go for my all-time favortive Knicks T-short with some skinny black jeans. I chose a nice leather jacket to go with the black t-shirt. I'll obviously take it off at once point...

About fifteen minutes later, after I finished my make-up, I picked up my handbag and walked downstairs. To my surprise, I saw Nick and Joe, sitting there, beers in hand.

Okay, I did not expect this.

"Hey, Soph!" Nick called, raising a hand in greeting. I nodded, "Hi," I replied, coming down the stairs. Joe put his beer back in the fridge while Nick drained it and threw it in the bin.

I tucked my arm around Joe's waist and he put his arm around mine. Nick sheepishly put his hands in his pockets and watched as Joe and I walked out to the center section of the penthouse and Joe took out his keys.

Nick followed us out and Joe locked the doors securely.

Going down the elevator was silent, no one said much, probably because we were almost fully aware on how much paparazzi will be on the streets today. Lots of celebrities will be out watching the game. So glad Joe got us front row tickets!

We got into the car and drove off in Joe's sports Audi; Nick sat at the back while I sat at the front.
