Two days until the wedding
Albert had invited us to lunch at a prestigious restaurant located at the edge of the Seine River.
Ever since the Florence instance, William, along with the rest of the guys, had been saliently occupied with unknown to me matters, leaving early in the morning and returning when everyone was sound asleep.
Unlike previously, however, I was no longer alone in the clouds of ignorance. My sisters hadn't the slightest clue of their intentions either.
The guys have been focused on a certain objective that was clearly meant for their eyes and their eyes only.
William even went to the extent of notifying me prior to his constant absence from the manor, decreasing my curiosity substantially with his thoughtfulness, for I no longer had any intentions of interposing with their business.
Today was no different. As hitherto, my sisters and I had breakfast without a single man in the room, yet it was oddly agonizing, unlike the old days.
We had gotten so used to having them around that nowadays, it was awfully depressing whenever they were gone.
Though, thankfully later today, we were to meet them at last.
As I returned to my resting room, I attained some assistance with my appearance from the maids, hired by my parents as soon as they got the word of the location we resided in.
I was ready to leave in no time, waiting for the carriage to pick me and my sisters up.
"Sebastian will have a lot of explaining to do!" SoSo paced around the room, bitting her nails vigorously with a frown plastered on her face.
"Surely you'll find a place in your heart to forgive your fiancé, SoSo. Albert must've needed his help with their private project." Grace stated anxiously as she followed SoSo's tracks, nearly stumbling upon her feet due to the lack of distance in between them.
"I'm afraid the word 'private' is what worries me, dear sister. We are to get married in forty-eight hours yet this man has the audacity to keep secrets from me." SoSo's anger grew larger the more she heard of the topic.
"You aren't alone in this. Not a single soul in this room deems itself aware of their plans; however, we must respect the Moriarty brothers, through high and low, despite our selfish desires to know more. If they do not wish for us to know, then we shan't know." Claire explained, earning slight nods of agreement from me and the rest.
"Lady Sofia GS, the carriages have been prepared and ready for departure." One of the maids informed us.
——
A minute hasn't passed till we found ourselves outside of a great building, decorated with excellent architecture.
With the help of a coachman, responsible for my carriage, I safely stepped on the ground, my eyes wandering around until they stopped at the sight of the water, belonging to the Seine River, which was right across the building.
Before my mind had the chance to descend into the everlasting cycle of speculations regarding the possible flooding issues of the restaurant caused by the close proximity with the river itself, I felt a pair of hands place themselves on my hips, leading me to jump from the sudden surprise.
"Foundation vents." A low husky-like whisper appeared near my ear.
Undoubtedly, I already knew who it belonged to as I turned around, smiling brightly, unable to deny the fact that I've missed him dearly.
