The song above was written and sung by one of my readers <3
Disturbing nasty smell, that's the only thing I could think of while waiting for the drunk old man to find a change for his most likely nth beer of a day.
I wanted to throw up, could he please just go already.
Tapping onto the counter with my black nail, I became impatient with the line of customers waiting behind him.
"Do you have it or not?" I finally snapped, after receiving a few evil eyes from the others.
It's not like it was my fault... Why were they angry with me?!
The man burped into my face before throwing few coins onto the counter, causing them to bounce to the floor behind me - I wasn't getting paid enough for this shit.
Ignoring his behavior, I got the money and sighed with relief when he left the store. I swear working late shifts was the worst, but there was no other option with the school starting again.
"Finally," another customer muttered unhappily as he approached me.
I was tired, my life sucked. I couldn't help but think so every time I was at work.
Oh, who was I kidding! Those were my exact thoughts during every bloody second of my life.
Way to be miserable Mars.
Once I managed to clear out the line, I went to the small beauty section of the convenience store I worked at and looked at some hair dye colors I haven't tried yet.
"Maybe dark green ombre this time," I said to myself while checking out the box. Yep, I decided that this was it, and just like that planned on doing it tonight before school.
Grimacing at the mere thought of having to go back to that hell hole, yet I couldn't help but think about how I could get a few hours of peace, which sounded like heaven after an entire summer break.
"What are you smiling about, get to work!" my boss yelled from the back storage. I obeyed not wanting to get in trouble, angry old men scared me.
No, they terrified me.
Finishing up the shift I threw on the hoodie and took out my earphones. It was breezy and dark outside, on top of which this area was not a place where a lonely teenager would want to find themselves at this time, hence the hoodie.
Feeling my phone vibrate in the left trouser pocket, I instantly knew this meant trouble instead of sunshine and rainbows. With hesitance, but also no choice I took it out and checked the message.
It was a simple one. Get here now or we will find you instead, to put it up nicely.
"Fuck," I swore feeling my heartbeat escalate.
Entering an almost empty bus I saw concern in Dani's eyes.
"What?" I grumbled while scanning a ticket near the driver's seat.
He only shook his head in disapproval. That's what they all did, disapprove. It was so easy to judge, but when the help was needed, they were nowhere to be found.
"Don't look at me like that, if you are gonna say nothing," I snapped having it beyond my limits with adults acting as if they knew better.
Dani was a decent guy, on many occasions he allowed me to catch a free ride, but once he found out where I was going most of the nights he began acting like an ass.
