The Accident

"So what now?" Delirious asked.

"I've got a little bit of editing to do. It will only take a few minutes. I'm almost done with this video."

"Alright. We could probably record later on in the night anyway right?" He asked.

"Yeah I want to do another gmod skit. Maybe download a theme park map?"

"With roller coasters and shit?"

"Yeah I think that would be awesome."

We heard a huge crash outside. No no no. I've heard that sound before. "What the hell is that?" Delirious asked. I jumped out of my seat and ran to the door. Delirious followed me as I flung open the front door and raced out to my drive way. No no no.

Just as I feared there was a huge car wreck. Three cars were totaled in the ditches. A group of bystanders from around the neighborhood had all ready formed pulling people away from the cars.

Delirious stood with his hand over his mouth staring at one certain car. The yellow taxi that was completely flipped upside down. Oh my god.

I walked up to a woman who appeared to be shocked. "What happened?" I asked.

"A car was speeding- and I was on my phone- and I wasn't paying attention, it was my fault. I-" The woman was shaking.

"It's alright, is everyone ok?"

She shook her head no. "That taxi driver." She pointed to a man laying on the ground. Oh no.

Delirious was kneeled beside him. I ran up to him. "Is that?-"

"Ethan. He- He's still breathing." Delirious answered my question. Ethan looked terrible. His breathing came in wheezes and his arm and hand had blood all over it.

I heard sirens and an ambulance finally came and picked Ethan up. Delirious tried to get in the ambulance with them but they wouldn't let him and the ambulance soon raced to the hospital. The nearest hospital is an hour away. Will he make it?

"Can you drive me to that hospital?" He asked.

"Of course, we'll go in a second." I said walking over to a police officer. "Is that taxi driver going to make it?"

The police officer sighed. "He's an old fellow, and he's knocked out and unresponsive. I'm just going to be straight with you. I've seen younger, stronger guys not make it out of a mess like that. I'm sorry." He looked down.

I nodded and bit my lip. How am I going to tell Delirious? I looked over to see Delirious talking to the woman I had talked to. He was clearly getting frustrated.

"Hey." I said walking up to him. "Let's go back to the house." I started walking to the house without his answer.

"I thought we were going to go to the hospital? Evan?" I don't want to tell him. I looked down.

"He's not going to make it, Jonathan."

"What? So we're just not going to go to the hospital?"

"It's an hour away." I took a step towards him. "I'm sorry. It's eleven o'clock at night. The roads are still dangerous with all this snow."

"No! We've got to go!" Damn it.

"Delirious." I looked at him. "There's nothing we can do. We don't even know his last name."

"He was still breathing. What if he does make it? And he wakes up and no ones there? What if-"

"I'm sorry. We'll go in the morning if-"

"Just let me take your car. Give me the keys."

"No I'm not going to let you go alone on these icy roads. I'm sorry. Let's just get back inside the house." I started walking again. Delirious didn't follow me. God damn it. He's acting like a spoiled kid, but then again so am I. I turned back and put my arm around him. "Please come into the house."

"We're going to the fucking hospital first thing in the morning. Ethan's going to fucking live." Delirious sounded really really pissed off. I'm so sorry. He's not going to make it.
