ShadowKeeper(3)

Han Myungoh's gaze went to the treasure box.

"That-" I glared, clamping my hand over his mouth as I motioned towards the extremely agitated ground rats that had appeared out of the darkness. He froze, scooching back, behind me, as I searched the area for the others.

Unlike last time, Yoo Sangah and Han Myungoh hadn't been taken as hostages. There were no unhappy constellations and no stupidly loud prisoners to bother whatever creature hid in the shadows.

I crouched down, knees on the ground as my right palm skidded along the walls to the rocky floor. Dokja and I made eye contact from the other side of the cave and he nodded, Gilyoung in his arms and Namwoon behind him. Yoo Sangah was hesitantly looking around the abyss.

I took in a deep breath, searching for a large stone before finding one and weighing the feel in my hands.

Good.

Just as I thought this, Dokja threw his thorn into the foggy darkness that was trapped by branches and vines. It pierced into the darkness but remained stuck as it was. I took in a deep breath and shot the rock as hard as I could, humming in satisfaction when the rock hit the hilt of the thorn and sent the entire thing three feet deeper into the darkness.

We waited with bated breath.

From the area the thorn and rock had pierced was a great crack that went to all sides of the darkness. And then suddenly-

Kuoooh

The ground rats fell to their sides, twitching as a white foam left their hinged jaws. The insects Gilyoung had used to lead himself and Dokja in, collapsed under an invisible pressure.

Even considering that this is within the depths of the Dark Fold, Black Ether overflew to the point of manifesting black flames, in the nucleus of the Dark Root.

And wherever a Dark Root may be, he appears like the devil in your sleep.

A figure taller than three men, each six feet tall, appeared out of the darkness. His body was covered in a black robe- the edges torn- and his face (the only thing one could see) was akin to that of a skeleton. Behind him were tentacles.

He was a tentacle monster reminiscent of the god of death.

A shiver of terror went down my spine as I heard Han Myungoh choke on the air behind me.

['The Warden of The Dark' has appeared!]

[The sub scenario has been updated!]

[Sub Scenario 'Slay the Warden' has begun!]

Han Myungoh groaned. I whipped my head to see that he had thrown up all over the ground. His face was pale and he was sweating profusely.

I groaned before walking over and helping him shrug off his suit jacket. I unbuttoned the top three buttons of his dress shirt and took off my suit jacket, using it as a pillow for his head as I turned away from his throw-up ridden own.

I turned my head back to the monster and froze.

Why was the creature staring straight at me?

To my knowledge, the creature was a grade 7 demon-type species. Even among all those that appeared in the world's destruction, the demonic species was one of the most toxic of all.

And not like, relationship toxic.

I turned to the ground rats who had fallen, the treasure of these pathetic creatures was more like tributes to the beast- despite their equal grade.
