Chapter 12

Andy's POV

Me and Robert left Vic and Ripley's place and made our way to my OB appointment. I'm around 20 weeks pregnant so today we're going to find out the gender of our baby. I'm excited but nervous and it was showing. Robert put his hand on my leg.

 "Babe, are you ok?" Robert asked me "Yeah, just nervous and a little upset, I can't believe Travis is really gone" I said with tears forming in my eyes "He would've been excited to meet our baby, we never even got to tell him" I said wiping my tears "I know baby, I wish he could meet them too he would've been an amazing uncle" Robert said while driving. 10 minutes later we arrived at the hospital. We checked in and then went to the waiting room and waited to be called back. I laid my head down on Robert's chest trying to relax as he stroked my hair. 

"Andy Herrera" we heard the nurse say and we went back into the examination room and waited for Carina to come in. "Last chance... boy or girl?" Robert said "I told you as long as the baby is healthy I don't care about the sex" I said "I know I know but come on dont you at least have a little preference" Robert said all cheeky "Fine girl" I said "I knew it but I still think a hundred percent boy" Robert said while laughing "Fine wanna have a bet?" I said "What kind of bet?" Robert asked "Whoever guessed the correct gender wins and loser has to change diapers and is on night duty for 3 months" I said "It's a bet" Robert said and we shook hands.

 5 minutes later Carina walked in the room "Hello guys, how are you doing today?" said Carina "Hanging in there" Robert said "Oh right, I'm sorry it slipped my mind, I'm very sorry about Travis" Carina said "Thank you" I said taking Carina's hand "Ok shall we get started?" Carina said "Please" I said and then I laid back on the table. Carina then put the cold gel on my stomach and started waving the wand around. "Would you like to know the gender today?" Carina asked "Yes please" we both said "Ok just give me a sec- huh" Carina said "Huh, what huh there's no huh" I said starting to panic a little bit "Andy calm down I'm sure it's nothing, please tell me I'm right" Robert said "Calm down bambina, there's nothing wrong I just seen something interesting and I'm just making sure I'm right" Carina said rubbing my shoulder "Well what did you see?" I asked nervously. 

Carina turned the monitor around to show us and placed the wand back on my stomach "See there's the fetus, which by the way is a girl" Carina said pointing at the monitor "Ha I win" I said to Robert laughing "And then if you look right there it is another fetus and it looks to be a boy, congratulations you are having twins!" Carina said smiling. Me and Robert then looked towards each other "We're having twins!!! Tell me you're not joking" I said excitedly "I'm not, look... baby #1 and... baby #2" Carina said "Oh my god Robert we're having twins" I said almost in tears. "I know baby, looks like we both win the bet" he said laughing and then he kissed me.

 I was so happy but so shocked. In the beginning I didn't even think I wanted a baby and now I'm getting two. I couldn't be any happier than I am right now. Carina went over a few things and explained that sometimes one baby can hide and not be shown for a while but it was unusual that he didn't show up until 5 months. Carina then thoroughly checked him out and determined he was fine, he was just an excellent hider. "Ok you're all set, you'll have one more ultrasound at 35 weeks and then we should be all good for your delivery" Carina said "Sounds good, thank you" I said "No problem, I will go print out your pictures and then you can be on your way" Carina said and then she left. 

Robert helped me off the table while we waited for Carina to come back. "I can't wait to tell the team" I said excitedly "Me too baby" Robert said as he gave me a kiss. Carina walked back in and gave us our ultrasound pictures. We then left the hospital to head to the station. We arrived at the station and headed upstairs.

Nobody's POV

The team was in the beanery just talking. It was their first day back since Travis passed away. Vic was still at home with Ripley as Sullivan decided to give her 2 weeks off to grieve as she was closest to Travis. 

"Morning 19!" Sullivan said "Morning" the team said "Bishop nice to have you back, how are you feeling?" Sullivan asked "Fine sir, just waiting for my voice to come back" Maya said sounding very hoarse "Well for this shift you can be on aid car, because to fight fires we have to be able to hear and understand each other" Sullivan said. Maya then heard Jack and Dean snicker a little, so as she got up to get some water she gave a little thump to both of their heads "Hey!" they both said as Maya just smiled to herself.

 "Guys we have an announcement to make" Andy said standing up next to Sullivan "What is it? Is something wrong with the baby?" Ben said worriedly "No not at all, there's nothing wrong with them" Andy said with a little smile "Oh that's a relief... wait what did you say?" Ben said "I think she said 'them' " Jack said confused. Everyone then looked at Sullivan and Andy who were holding up their ultrasound picture "We're having twins!!" Andy said excitedly, smiling so wide. 

"Oh my god, congratulations!" Maya said practically screaming which in turn made her start coughing so Jack went to give her some water. "You ok Bishop" Sullivan asked "Yeah I'm good" Maya said "So what are they? Boys or girls?" Ben asked, "Both! A boy and a girl" Andy said "Cool a mini Andy and Sullivan" Jack said. They both laughed and Sullivan planted a kiss on Andy's cheek. 

They went back to the table and sat down because Andy's back started to hurt her. They spent the rest of their shift hanging out because B shift had done most of the chores and occasionally the aid car was called out but that was for Maya and Dean. When their shift was over they all went home and relaxed for that day because the next day would be Travis' funeral.

A/N: Hi all! Sorry it's been a month since I uploaded. I have no excuse other than I haven't felt motivated to write and also I got lost on where I wanted the book to go.
