CHAPTER 6

"Jinnie. What's wrong? Are you alright? How's the meeting?"

"I'm allowed to talk to you today. Can we lie down first? I miss hugging you, Byulyi."

Now that they are on her bed, he doesn’t do anything aside from kissing her lips, tracing the outline of her face, combing her hair with her fingers, inhaling her scent until he decided to speak.

"It's really Sowon. She doesn't have a proof that our parents are married. I think she just overheard our conversation at the party."

Realization struck her. Guilt, anger, shame, and regret can be seen on her face.

Jin knows that she’s starting her self-blaming spree that’s why he grabbed her hand, kissing her knuckles to calm her.

"It was my fault. I was the one who broke down and carelessly blurted out that information. I'm so stupid." She said lifelessly.

"Shhh. Don't blame yourself Byulyi. Whether she heard or not, it doesn't matter anymore. Though she threatened me that if we'll continue our relationship, she'll tell dad."

She’s scared. She wanted to beat herself up from exposing their secret not just to anyone but to Sowon. The person who would really take advantage of this flaw in their relationship.

"Dad will take you away from me. I'm sure of it. We need to be careful around her. It's possible that someone will always watch our every move. Can we just pretend that we already ended our relationship?"

Jin is shocked with her suggestion. It added to the mixed and overwhelming emotions he has been trying to ignore for quite a while now.

"Can I be weak for a moment, princess? I want to say that I can endure this situation but I can't. Dad's asking me to forget my feelings for you.” He paused

“And I said I'll try."

Byul forgot to breathe for a moment. But she’s already feeling defeated.

"I understand. I know it's harder for you. It would have been better if we did not start th--"

"Byul please, don't say that. Do you think I'll regret this decision? I couldn't let you go then. I cannot even more now. I said I'll try but what made you think that I will? Just the thought of doing that is already painful. I just don't know how long I can follow dad's orders. I just want everything to go back to how it used to. I just want to run away with you." He quickly countered afraid of what’s going on in her mind.

Somehow she felt relieved to know what he feels about his dad’s ultimatum.

"Just a little bit longer Jinnie. For now, let's do what Sowon wants."

"I can't Byul. I won't allow her to do this to us."

"Jin, we have to do this. If we want to make this relationship work in the long run, we have to do this now."

She’s trying to convince him to agree with her suggestion.

"Promise me that you'll never leave me Byul. Promise me that you'll stay whatever happens." He begged.

"I'm not going anywhere Jinnie. We'll do this to be closer to one another. We just need to be away from each other but we won't be apart."

The new semester officially begins. Byul is now driving her way to the university. Wondering where Jin is? Well, their schedules are the same except that whenever she's in school, Jin will be at the company and vice versa.

They'll only see each other once a week, unless they are not needed in the company which is less likely to happen.

After parking her car, she saw Minhyuk walking towards her. It's been months since they last saw each other and normally, they'll just exchange friendly smiles but now, he's approaching her.

"Hey. It's nice to see you again. How are you?"

"It's been a hectic break for us. I'm already working in our company."

"And I assume Jin too? That explains why you're alone, right?"

"Yeah. We still have the same classes as well as the schedule but he'll be here when I am not and the same goes for me."

"Really? How did it happen? I'm not used to seeing you without Jin. Are you alright?"

"Well, this is what our company needs. Besides, we'll be here on Wednesdays and we still have the weekends to catch up. Don't make it sound like we won't be seeing each other anymore."

"I'm sorry. That's not what I meant. It's because it came as a surprise for me. Well, you're going to your first class right? Would you mind if I walk you there?"

"I guess my friends aren't here yet. Come on. Let's get going."

"Byulie. Where is Jin? Why is he not with you?" - Ken

"We're already staring our training. He's in the company. He'll be here tomorrow." - Byul

"How about you? How come you are here?" - Ken

"I'll work tomorrow. Then we'll both be here on Wednesday then it's his turn again, then mine."

"What? You've got to be kidding me? You two? I can't believe that you allowed that kind of schedule." - Ken

"Dad's order Kennie." - Byul

"Ohhh. You mean .  . He knew?!" - Ken

"Unfortunately, yes. But he only thinks that Jin has feelings for me. He doesn't know about our relationship yet."

"This is insane. How come? H-how did it happen?"

"Ken, please. Let's talk about this later. Today is our first day. It's not easy for Byul." - Hani

"I'm sorry Byul. I'm sorry to hear this."

"No worries Ken. I know you're just concerned. We're doing fine."

~~~~
"It's Sowon who sent those pictures to your dad?" - Sandeul
"That witch! I knew it!" - Hani
"How did you know it was her?" - Ken
"She was at the party right? When we went on our own that night, she followed us and heard our conversation. I was the one who's careless. I let my guard down."
"Don't blame yourself Byul. Nobody wanted for this to happen." - Sandeul
"What are you going to do now?" - Hani
"We'll just do what dad wants. We have to appease him somehow." - Byul
