CHAPTER 13

"Are you sure about this Byul? Are you sure that he isn't tricking you? That he isn't really with Sowon?" Jin asked her after she finished telling him what really happened.

"Whether he is or not, I just need to be more vigilant. He's willing to be used. As long as I will not be swayed by his actions, there's nothing to worry about. Atleast we can use him as a distraction.

And he’s a great person. A good and reliable friend. Maybe if you didn’t start on the wrong foot you will be best buddies. You can learn a lot from him.”

“Thank you for saying subtly that he’s better than me.”

She faced him. She caresses his face, as if the simple gesture can fill all the days she’s been missing this beautiful man in front of her.

“You’re the greatest one that I ever had and I’m not wanting nor even looking for more. We still have a lot of things to learn Jinnie but it doesn’t mean that you’re not enough for me.”

Her words struck straight into his heart. He hugs her tightly while expressing all his distress to her.

"I'm worried about you Byulie."

"Don't be. Just endure this until I get to convince my mom."

"Your mom? How? How can you say so?" He adjusted her position on his lap to look at her fully.

"Cause she's my mom? I know we'll get her help. We just need to sacrifice a bit. So you have to act like you're heartbroken. Do well in the company. Don't worry about me. I'll work hard as well."

He is somehow relieved knowing her reasons behind her behavior when he is away.

"I have to apologize to our friends."

"You surely need to. They've been endlessly nagging me about this. We don't want to burden them with our relationship but look what's happening now. I have to distance myself from them to make our plan more convincing."

"I can't stand this. I can't let you do this on your own. Maybe there are other ways to solve this? I can't leave you alone."

"I've been alone for so long Jinnie. Now that I have people that I cherish, I'll do whatever it takes."

"Princess"

"Jinnie, it's my turn to protect you. I've got this okay?"

"I've lost a lot. I don't want to lose you."

"No one's going to lose anyone. This is just a small sacrifice compared to the life that's waiting for us."

There were moments when he wonders if Moon Byul yi is real. How can a person like her be so giving while still having so much in her? He knows how he’s doing his best keeping her safe, how he is devoting his self to her.

But she’s always on another level. He sometimes gets scared when thoughts of her leaving him or being gone haunt him but knowing how she goes over and beyond for him, it soothes his heart; heck even his entire existence.

She always amazes him. Surprising him in ways he cannot comprehend. Just like now. Too pure, too warm, too fierce, and too secure. Could she do more than this?

"I love you, Jin."

He stopped breathing. He didn’t know that his name could be the most precious thing that he had when she said those words while saying his name.

Specifically telling that it’s him that she loves although there are alone. She’s been so good in assuring him. He knew deep down that she loves him. Though, it’s still different when he heard it from her.

From her lips that’s been so good in telling the right words that he needs at the right moment. From her heart that only spills the truth.

"Say it again."

"I love you."

"Really?"

"I do."

"You love me?"

"Yes baby. More than you'll ever know. And I hope that it's enough to keep you safe in all that’s been happening to us.

Don’t cry. You’ll always have me. I love you Kim Seok Jin.”

"It's more than enough baby. It's more than enough. Thank you, Moon Byul-yi."

The next day, Jin dropped off Byul to Sandeul's house. He decided to get home first to prepare his things and to avoid being caught together by anyone watching them.

"Where's Byul?"

"She's still at Sandeul's."

"Are you telling the truth?"

"Why did you not check on us if you think I'm lying? Call her to know if I'm telling the truth."

"Don't break your promise Jin."

"I didn't promise anything. But I'm trying my hard to follow you and just in case you’re interested to know, I'm hurt. It's very painful for me. I have not totally grieved for my mother's loss and I'm enduring another heart break. Please dad. If you can be a father to me now, I'm not asking for too much but cut me some slack. I don't know how long I can last."

"Take a rest then."

"Did you two talk?" - Hani

"Yong unnie, Heeyeon unn

"It hurts. We have to be strong in front of each other but I know we're falling apart alone. I don't want any of you to get involved in this mishap. If only I can protect all of you without changing anything but I can't."

She’s breaking down. Moonbyul, who’s always been calm and strong in front of them is crying.

"Noona, you have us. You don't need to bear everything on your own." - Namjoon

"I appreciate all of you. Since then you never judged us. Always looking out for us. But now we need to take responsibility of our choices. I'm already grateful knowing that whatever happens, we have you...

But, I'm the only person who can do this. I asked you of this. I have to distance myself from you. Especially from you, Heeyeon-ah, Kennie, Deulie. Please understand what will happen between I and Minhyuk. Just trust me please."
