Chapter 20

CHAPTER 20

He pulled out from her after releasing his seeds inside her. She looks so tired. She cannot open her eyes to even look at him.

She’s waiting for him to hold her, instead, what envelopes her was coldness. He stood up from the bed and dressed up.

He went to the comfort room, and now has a towel on his hands. He is quiet. He cleans her and dries her up. She just stayed still while he’s doing it. He took out fresh clothes from her wardrobe and he dresses her up careful in holding her, not looking at her eyes. Then, he covers her with the blanket.

“Jin, are we not going to talk? Just give me a minute. I don’t want to sleep.”

He took out his phone and dialed a number.

“Noona, come over to my house. I’ll send you the address. Byul is waiting for you.”

“Jin, where are you going? We still need to talk please.”

“Byul, I’ve had enough. I can’t take it anymore. Let me go please.”

“Are you breaking up with me?”

He finally looks at her and he wants to regret his decision. Seeing her tear-streaked face, he’s wavering.

“It hurts Byulyi. I don’t know what to believe in anymore. I need this please. Just let me go. Yongsun noona will go here. Just wait for her.”

“Jin please listen to me.”

“I cannot do that now Byulyi. I won’t believe you no matter what you say.”

Then he leaves.

It was never her intention to hurt him. She only wants to live peacefully with him. She just wants to be with him. And now, she’s on her own. She can feel the exhaustion taking over. She feels empty and she can’t breathe.

“Byulie, wake up. Byulie.”

She opens her eyes to see Yongsun beside her, worry visible in her eyes.

“Unnie.”

She lets her hug her. Like a baby finding refuge to her arms, she cries her heart out.

Once she has calmed down, Yong asks.

“What happened Byul?”

“I didn’t know that we’d end up like this.”

“Is Jin already home?”

“He was with me when he called.”

“Why did he leave?”

“He didn’t know that I’m already staying in this house for almost a month. I didn’t know he’s going home today.”

“He got upset over that?”

“He saw us. He saw me with Minhyulk.”

“Don’t tell me, Byul,"

“It wasn’t my intention to hurt him unnie. I was just trying to protect him but this is what happened.”

“And it wasn’t just the two of us who got hurt in the end.”

“What do you mean?”

A week had passed since that tragic day. Byul kept on calling Jin but he wasn’t answering. Nobody knew where he was. Yongsun stayed with her and took care of her.

She couldn’t even properly eat thinking that she had totally lost him but she has no choice. She needs to live.

A few days ago, she went to the hospital with her. She insisted that she needed to get checked since she’s getting paler. She refused to go saying that she only needed to rest. Yong wouldn’t stop pestering her about it so she finally agreed.

“Are you going to tell him about this?”

“I need to talk to my mom first. Don’t tell anyone else about this unnie please.”

“But Byul”

“I need to see him.”

“And if you see him, what will you do?”

“It depends on what will happen to us.”

“Byul, you can’t be on your own now.”

“Unnie please.”

Jin decided to go to the university. He decided to drop out. He’s been living at a hostel to avoid anyone seeing him. When he reached the office, he quickly processes his papers not wanting to see anyone that has connections with Byul.

He is now leaving the campus when he sees her standing outside the door.

“Can we talk?”

He looks lifeless. She looks sick. They are both miserable. Can something even worse happen to them?

As bystanders, it's easy to get mad at Jin since we somehow have an idea what really happened. But given his situation, he hasn't had any break from all the things that happened to him since his mom died.

It may be easy for us to say that he doesn't really love her or he doesn't trust her fully but he fought. We know how hard he did. He's exhausted and emotional already but he still tried to believe. I'm not defending him but you'll see his struggles more in the next chapter.
