1 what inspired the idea of your story?

Solivagant was inspired by a concept I came up with for a magic system, in which anything a wielder desired to accomplish was possible. However, using magic in this manner would require immense mental strain and concentration. That notion gradually expanded into the world of Eldernia, and led to everything else that I have so far created.

2 what is something you struggled constructing with your story?

I struggled--and still struggle with--my magic system. That's a bit ironic, considering it was so key in Solivagant's creation, but needing to work out the minute details and limitations of it is far more difficult than I first thought.

3 what did you enjoy writing most of your story?

I love writing banter, fight scenes, and descriptions of the environment the most!

4 what's the overall response of your story from your readers?

My readers often yell at me for being mean to my characters. I have no idea why...

5 is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series ?

It is the first in a duology!

6 what would you like your readers to take away from your story?

First and foremost, I want my readers to have fun. And I hope that the themes I incorporate (there is as of yet no central message, but I try my best to accurately represent friendship, loyalty, death, etc.) can inspire some thought.

7 what advice would you provide to fellow writers, when it comes to focusing on their own story?

The most important advice I can give when it comes to first drafts is to never give up, and never go back and rewrite until you're done. The first versions of stories are not perfect, nor should they be: just finish the skeleton to create a solid base. You'll be able to add the rest later, but you need something to build from. And finishing a book, no matter how much work it may need in future drafts, is a huge accomplishment! Aim for it, and don't let anybody--especially yourself--stop you.

8 does your main character share any similarities to yourself?

Yes! Like me, Asher is introverted, pessimistic, and kind. I find that his thoughts often reflect my own, as well as his mannerisms. He is far more sarcastic than myself, however, and has led a very different life: so while we are similar, I believe Asher is still his own person.

9 what is something about your story you believe would draw in new readers?

To be honest, I don't put much thought into attracting readers. I simply write the story that I have to give, and hope people find as much joy in it as I do--no matter the reason they picked it up and continue to read.

10 do you have any future projects

Yes: as I mentioned before, Solivagant will have a sequel. However, before then I aim to publish Solivagant officially, so it may not come for a while.
