Chapter 30:

My mom went home with my Aunt Marin and her family, so I am now faced with the joy of being home alone, contemplating whether or not I should go to Claire's stupid party. Which is technically supposed to be Amarys'. But, it's basically Claire's.

It's even going to be held at Claire's place but she insists it's not hers.

I sigh in front of the mirror.

Dressing for parties is so difficult.

I never know what it will be like, shorts or jeans or bring a jacket or don't, it's so confusing.

Oh who am I kidding, I rarely have that problem. Because I rarely even go to parties.

But it does not change the fact that I am still unsure of my outfit.

My phone buzzes and I open up the text Claire just sent.

'I'm parked out front, hurry up!'

So I stare myself down once again and decide my jeans and white flowy tank top is good enough.

I run down and and out to her car wear she's applying way too much lipstick. It's bright pink, which I am most definitely not a fan of, but she says its "in style" so of course she's wearing it.

I run my fingers through my hair hoping it hasn't come unstraightened.

I glance over at her and at first it appears she's wearing denim underwear but I guess they're shorts.

She pulls out of the driveway quickly and blasts her radio.

"What time did the party start?" I almost yell, trying to be heard over her ear splitting Katy Perry.

"Half hour ago," she yells, unphased. "Fashionably late."

Yeah fashion, because that see-through red crop top should really be seen on a runway.

"Oh my gosh look at those boys!" She points over at a group of boys near my side of the car. "They're so hot!"

Hot is not the word I would use, probably more like looking for trouble.

They laugh and whistle as Claire stops and rolls down my window.

Real smart idea Claire.

They stuck up their thumbs like hitchhikers.

"You going to the big party tonight?" Claire giggles.

"I'm down for a party!" One of the taller guys yells and the others laugh obnoxiously.

"Hop in!"

Seriously Claire, you're really a genius tonight.

There's obviously too many of them for Claire's 3 empty back seats.

4 of them slide in tightly and the other one walks over by my window.

"Mind if I sit there doll?" He motions for my seat. "You can sit in my lap."

His friends and Claire laugh, but I just lock my door and roll up the window.

He squishes in the back row, irritated.

Claire rolls her eyes at me but starts driving.

"So where's this party at?" One guy shouts.

"My place!" Claire beams.

"Uh, shouldn't you like, be there then?" One guy asks her.

"Nah," she shrugs. "I want to be there late. All the doors are just left unlocked."
