Akil

"I'm so glad to see you two!" Dad exclaimed with a wide grin. He moved us over to a table and we both had a seat. Vasu seemed really awkward sitting there staring at the table since she didn't know what to do.

That's when a business partner of mine showed up. He was a big shareholder of my company.

"Hello Mr. Akilan." George greeted me.

"Nice to see you could make it, Sir."

"I see this is your wife," he continued.

As much as I'd like to say 'oh yeah we're getting divorced as soon as possible' or 'oh her, never seen her before' I knew we were technically married and I had to deal with it. Since I was taking a long time to respond Vasu backed me up.

"I'm Vastsala Aravindan."

"You mean Saxena." I corrected it with a teasing look.

"Well yeah- Vatsala Saxena."

She stuck out a hand to George who graciously accepted it.

"You know Akil, you should bring her to our business trip to Venice," he suggested.

"Actually I might have some final exams-"

"I would gladly take her along." I replied cutting Vasu who was staring at me in shock.

"Well then enjoy your evening."

We sat at the table once again in complete silence.

"Are you really planning on taking me?" she asked, "Or was that a joke."

"I was being serious."

"But I have exams and I need to study for." she protested.

"Study and I'll take care of the rest." I assured.

My dad passed by and he took a seat next to Vasu with a fake smile.

"I heard you're taking my daughter with you on that business trip with George."

I tightened my fists when I felt Vasu's hand on mine seeing my sudden anger. I let myself calm down and relaxed a bit before the rage overtook me.

"I don't want to talk about it, why don't you go talk to the other guests." I suggested. My dad feeling rejected left me and Vasu to be and walked away.

"You literally shut him down Akil!"

"I don't care." I replied.

It was probably the third time this evening we both sat in silence waiting for a topic so we could talk to break the silence.

"So..." Vasu trailed, "I've really wanted to try some of that stuff." she gestured over to the wine and liquor bottles.

"Seriously." I replied, rolling my eyes. Next thing I know she's having a shot. The one shot becomes a bunch and soon she's drunk. Like crazy drunk. Before she made anything embarrassing happen I picked her up from the floor and we headed to my car.

"It's Dylan!" she slurred, placing a hand on my face, "I love you soooo much!"

I gently placed her in the car and got into the driver's seat myself. "Close your eyes princess." She obediently closed them and occasionally peeked like a little child.

When we got home and instructed her to go to her room, change and go to bed. After loads of complaining she listened and got herself into bed.

"Good night kiss!" she demanded. I rolled my eyes and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Good night, grumpy man."

"Good night Princess."
