Chapter 6

You spent that day helping the Corporal file paperwork as he finished said paperwork. It wasn't too bad, he didn't talk much, whenever you spoke to him he ignored you or gave one word answers.

After about four hours you were ahead of Levi with filing. He then had you cleaning bookshelves which involved you taking everything down, cleaning and putting everything back.

When you were halfway through your first bookshelf, you heard a knock at the door. "Come in." Levi said with little interest.

It was Jean, as you stood there holding, what felt like 1000 heavy books, he entered. "I have paperwork from Commander Erwin, Sir!" He announced approaching Levi's desk.

"Just set it down." The Corporal waved to an empty space on his desk.

Jean did as requested before Turing go see you, hair now up, in your casual clothes while wiping down bookshelves. "Oh, y/n, I didn't know you worked today."

You paused what you were doing, looking at him then Levi "Neither did I." Sounding slightly annoyed. "I'm sorry I don't know if I can make it tonight."

"It's fine!" He waved a hand "There is always next week."

"I believe you're done here, Cadet." Levi's voice was laced with annoyance. "Get out."

After that Jean quietly left. You helped Levi with the new paperwork before finishing the bookshelves. Quietly humming a song to yourself before finishing the last one.

"Okay Captain," you sighed. "I'm finished with cleaning."

"Hm." Levi made a noise before getting up and walking over to check your work. As he approached the first bookshelf you took a few steps back, pulling your hand behind your back and holding them together.

As Levi was looking over the first few shelves he noticed you step back. "What are you doing?" He sighed, not looking away from the first bookcase.

"Preparing for you to try and hit me." You responded, watching him move do the second shelving unit.

"Try? Are you saying I couldn't?" Levi's voice was emotionless. He moved to the last bookshelf.

"No, Sir. I'm just saying I do not want to be hit." You tried not to have an attitude. You looked away and sighed "At least not in a situation like this. " You mumbled before realizing what exactly you just said aloud. Looking quickly over to Levi, he appeared not to notice. You felt relief run through you.

Levi looked at the time, he had supper brought up for the two of you a few hours ago so it was about 8:30. Curfew was 9 so no time to see Jean today. "You are dismissed." Levi returned to his desk. He looked up at you briefly before continuing to wave you off.

You went to the girls bath. Walking through the door in your towel you also saw Mikasa. The girls bath had five showers and one large hot tub for soaking. Placing your dry clothes down, you slipped in next to Mikasa. "You've been MIA all day." She commented, looking over to you.

You laid back. "The Corporal put me on paperwork today. Then cleaning duty." You sighed. It was just you and her. Most girls would bathe right after supper in order to get to bed early.

"Spending your day off with the Captain.. someone is trying to suck up." She teased you.

"Shut up" you laughed. "It was an order I couldn't say no."

"Whatever you say." She sang. Mikasa got up and out of the tub "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Yeah" you nodded.
