A light drizzle of rain beat down outside, accented by the cold draft that was moving through the cabin. A small foggy cloud of breath left Luna's mouth as she sighed, pushing another log into the smoldering fireplace. She wrapped the blanket tighter around her as she straightened up, watching the fresh logs catch the embers.
"Is it always this cold?" She turned around, seeing Carl pulling on a sweatshirt as he stood in the bedroom doorway.
"It's only gonna get worse." She snorted. "It hasn't even started snowing yet."
"Jesus..." He sighed, coming out into the living room. "There's gotta be some way we could insulate this place better, right? Maybe put some extra blankets around the doors and windows or something."
"Don't have any extra." She said. "Every one we have is on the bed, minus this one." He sighed, pulling back the curtain and looking outside.
"Oh shit." She shuffled over, leaning against him so she could look outside as well. A thin, fresh layer of snow was laid out in front of them, little flakes mixed in with the rain that was falling. "Hasn't started yet, huh?"
"Oh whatever." She huffed, looking up at him. "It must be later in the year than I thought."
"Is there anywhere you can think of we could get more blankets or something?" He asked, dropping the curtain and leaning against the wall next to the window.

The car slowed to a stop, Luna peering up at the row of snow-covered houses. Carl turned off the ignition, glancing at the houses before looking over at her. He couldn't help but sigh at the recognizable far-away look of apprehension on her face. It was the same one she'd worn nearly all day for the last month, since the nightmare about her stepmom that she refused to talk about.
"Are you ready?" He asked, making her jump lightly as she was brought out of her thoughts.
"Hmm? Yeah." She nodded, looking back at him. "We should start with the house closest, work our way down and around the block."
"Sounds like a plan."

Luna lounged back on the couch, three blankets piled on top of her. Their trip had, thankfully, been a success, and the snow hadn't really started to fall until they'd gotten home. Now, Carl was attempting to insulate the cabin while Luna tried to get warm next to the newly ignited fire.
"That should work." Carl sighed, walking out of the bedroom and plopping down on the couch next to her. "For the night, at least. I'll fix it in the morning if I need to."
"Okay." She nodded, pushing the blankets down the couch towards him. He frowned, watching as she stared over into the fire.
