I really do enjoy typing on my computer keypad more than on my phone. Maybe it's the fact that I can feel the buttons sinking down and there's a clicking sound......
Yep, they were lost. Or rather, just Kansen, since Niju was still passed out. Her somber attitude had lightened somewhat after a while of listening to her footsteps, breathing, and the sound of Niju being pulled across the concrete.
"What should I do next?" She decided to ask Kurama. The bijuu always proved to be a reluctant but useful source of advice. "And don't tell me 'how should I know'", She added.
"Tch. That was exactly what I was going to say. But since you specifically said not to, maybe I'll tell you something a bit more helpful," He growled.
"And that "helpful" piece of instruction is....?"
"Keep walking until you find something interesting. That's it."
If Kansen had been in her inner world and face to face with her bijuu, she would have deadpanned, her eye twitching and every movement of her body saying "really? Like, seriously?"
"It always worked for Naruto."
......................................................
She was in silence for, like, half a minute.
"Well, I'm not the Seventh, okay? What worked for him isn't going to work for me."
"I don't see why it wouldn't."
For lack of anything better to do, Kansen acquiesced. And as usual, the irritating fox was right. Within ten minutes she stopped in front of a glowing blue barrier, a rocky cliff behind it. She recognized it as the barrier she had been carried through when the genin had first arrived at the hideout. The redhead knew that the cliff was an illusion, but then there was the problem of the barrier. Washura had muttered something, probably a passcode, upon their arrival. Why hadn't she thought to remember it?!
Kansen used her palm to hit the side of her head in frustration. Maybe it was the pain acting as a wake up call, or maybe it was just her brain finally starting to work properly, but she noticed that she could actually see the barrier. Earlier it had been completely invisible. Now, it was a dull transparent blue with lighter colored shimmering patches here and there.
Perhaps.........the kunoichi decided to test her new theory. Picking up a loose pebble sized piece of concrete nearby, she launched it at one of the darker colored areas of the force field. The piece of debris disintegrated upon contact. Acquiring another fragment, this time she cast it at a shimmering patch. The rubble passed straight through the barrier and disappeared through the illusionary rock wall.
As she thought, the barrier was breaking down. As to why, she had no idea and honestly didn't care. The dysfunctional fence was her and Niju's method of escape. Speaking of that troublesome boy, Kansen supposed it was time for him to wake up and be helpful for a change.
She held out her hand and by using her chakra to gather the moisture in the air, a floating sphere of water appeared in her palm in a matter of seconds. She flipped her hand over.
Niju was woken up by a liter of cold water splashed on his face. He wasn't too surprised though, considering he had been awakened before with a pinch. "Seriously, isn't there a nicer way to return me to the present world?" he asked, wiping his face with his sleeve.
"Any other way takes too long," she said nonchalantly, not a hint of regret anywhere. His lack of reaction was slightly disappointing though.
"So, what's that blue barrier?" he attempted to assess the current situation.
